The song brings up a childhood memory, i was walking down the dirtroad on the rez with a stroller and pushing my little sister wondering where my parents were. I felt so ashamed and embarrased, because i knew that i was to young to be pushing her around i felt like people were watching me wondering where my parents were. Both my parents were alcoholics, and we were left to fend for ourselves. Both my parents have passed on now, and i forgave them, my mother was in residential school.
@meakanequay gosh hon, i'm so sorry to hear that...sounds similar to what my family has been through in cent. america. i've heard that life on the rez is very hard, glad to see that you have been trying not to let the bitterness of life get to you :)
@pcarebear1 thanks, meegwetch-thank you. Life on the rez what crazy at that time. Everybody was drunk, children neglected, but you know what there was good times. Living off the land and spending time with grandmother, that was the only time i felt safe. She would go fishing and go up river, and i would stand on the shore crying for her to take me with, eventually she would say ok. and of course i was so happy. this is what i would do to get away from the binges.
i dont know if i would have my youngest daughter if it wasnt for this man. Creator worked thru him to reach me and so during his performance on my birthday he said some certain words relating to children deservig to be as they are a gift from creator...i thanked him after words. I told him we would meet again and he would know then what i was thanking him for...we met again and he met my 3 mo old daughter who is named after his daughter Aspen.
Robert Mirabal is the greatest siger of all time ...he so puts his true feelings in every song and the videos are beautiful the other indians that does the dances and fights are wonderful also and lets not forget about the beautiful indian girl that sings back up... I have Cherokee in me so this music comes natural to me I had never heard him sing before but the minute I found the videos on youtube I loved them instantly as of now they are my favorite God bless you in whatever your future is
Maybe my mirror reflects it all...? Let it be, hoping I am speaking words of wisdom here...? I'd just would like to say: Thanks and praises for this song, so soothing to my ears.
I wanna see Robert again!!.... Oh wait! I'm gonna see him in April never mind.... Love this song Robert!
