@tufionxxx Depending on which magic schools you have in your major skills, you start out with some spells at the beginning of the game. I don't think any of my mods changed that, but I'm not entirely sure.

@B4CHA It's called 'Galsiah's Character Development (GCD)'. It's one of my favourite mods, it really makes it where you no longer need to rest to level up or train a certain skill a so you get the perfect attributes, but instead levels up your character seamlessly, increases your hp, mp, and attributes. It also has optional magicka regen, but you can turn that off or change how quickly it regenerates. Quite an awesome mod.

@gabqcm Eh, not really. I don't have any really intensive graphics mods. The only one that might noticeably slow down your computer is MGE, and only if you set the distance to very far.

For Mage, I always do Atronach - potions are easy to come by (especially if you're an alchemist), and you can easily summon some critters that'll throw spells at you.

The magick absorption is pretty solid too.

Im really trying to get into this game, (tried once with an imperial fighter once with a dark elf mage) But i cant get over how underpowered you start off, the lack of fast travel, and the walls of text you have to mine through to figure out what to do. Honestly, you cant beat an unarmed old lady in the street.

@kittehfoodz i felt the same way as you at first man, but just stick with it, trust me. morrowind rewards patience. yes you start off really weak but after you learn the game you can become INSANELY strong as well. morrowind is a lot more gratifying than oblivion imo.

@practicaldreamyr It's actually the default water that comes with MGE. I think it looks good enough, but it looks a little... I dunno plasticy. Lulz. There are a bunch of really amazing looking water shaders but they lag my computer to hell.

@TheShadowBrigade Well, sadly graphics mods are usually the ones that do slow your fps. If you're going for just the basics though, get the Morrowind Visual Pack, Darknut's textures (he has creatures weapons, armors, etc.) and maybe some miscellaneous stuff like book jackets and bottles and the like? Honestly, unless your computer is REALLY slow and as long as you don't do huge texture mods or stuff that adds in crazy shaders, you'll be ok.

@VelasLupus Yeah, there are a bunch of awesome mods that make taverns a little more lively. The first thing that comes to mind is Clothiers of Vvardenfell, by Korana. Type in Morrowind with living npcs into youtube to see what it's like, you'll be amazed. If you want to find the mod, type this into google:

@TheCunningCripple I've played vanilla Morrowind for years without mods. It's amazing. However, after so long, it's nice to be able to experience the game in another light. I did, however try my best to keep the game very close to the base game.

And about the character development. Morrowind's magic system has always been horribly underpowered compared to melee, everyone agrees on that point. What's the problem in making casters better? Game balance is something games should strive for.

okay i can agree with the new light thing i suppose, but i really don't with the character development, idk i don't think its possible to play a elder scrolls game without some kind of melee weapon, whether you summon it or not you'll eventually need to use skills that are not of the class you chose, regardless of which class you are. Making mages totally OP isn't helping the experiance, considering i can beat tribunal as a mage class only on vanilla.
