This was the first Christmas I ever even considering giving Jesus a gift.. I didn't want to receive anything, but I wanted to give everything... I told the Lord I'd read John for Christmas, as my gift to Jesus to learn more about the Son of Man and Son of God (also because I've never read it entirely).. I'm not religious man, I'm a spiritual man that just wants to return the favor.. After all.. It IS called CHRISTmas.. If anything show love to others as a gift to Christ. :) Even non-believers

Wow ! I listen to 91.9 FM WGTS out of Washington, DC. I've often thought to myself every time I've heard this song get air play that the lead singer could sure pass for Freddie Mercury. As an atheist, why take a christian's word over a hindu's word that their system of belief is the right way. I've had Hindus tell me that they've had experiences personally that have convinced them 100% that hinduism is true. I've heard the exact same thing from christians. So maybe it's just that you want it to be true so bad you convince yourself of these personal experiences.

You make it sound like I have a faith based position in my atheism. How can I have doubts about my position if what it is, is a rejection of theism? I wouldn't have doubts, It would be me seeing evidences for a god existing taking me toward a theistic position, which has not happened at all.

Religion is dangerous, that's why. I, and millions of other atheists in this country, feel we should do something about it. If it didn't affect my life, I would be fine with you believing whatever it is you believe in. That's not the case. You insert religion into our biology classes, you try to insert prayer into our schools, you try and label this country as a "christian nation", you try and put the 10 commandments in as many public places that you can, need more?

The lack of a belief in a god is hardly dangerous, but suit yourself. I'm not the one harassing, I'm responding to what is affecting me from the religious in this country. This nation was founded by a diverse group, some of which were religious (some were christian, some were deist). What matters is HOW the nation was founded. The constitution is a secular document, and we're a secular nation accepting of ALL beleifs.

In regard to our side having prayer removed from school.

You're COMPLETELY WRONG on this one. What was removed was MANDATED prayer. Kids are free to pray in school. Get your facts straight please. I have no trouble seeing a child pray privately in school, just as long as I don't see a teacher led prayer. That's what got people talking and eventually that was removed.

Ok mandated yes and I agree no one should be made to observe a God they do not want to, so there we agree. But why did this go to the extreme that prayer was removed, CHOICE is the key to peace amongst believers and non. Just so you understand I do not think less of anyone who doesn't believe, I can still be friends etc. All of are responsible for our lives and soul ( if you believe we are equipped) and while I might tell you about God, in no way do I expect you to conform

I have a teenage daughter in Jr. high. We live in what is called the Bible belt and she is not allowed to pray aloud over her lunch. If they pray they have to do it silently. They are teaching about all religions in school.

It wasn't in my opinion an arguement, no one was uncivil on either side, we had an exchange/dialogue if you will. I do want to ask why you would suggest I go pray or something that will advance the Kingdom of God?
