This was officially sanctioned by Sylvia Anderson as a thank you and final farewell to the cast, crew, and the fans that made the show so memorable. Its included in the series box set DVD collection.
One of my best memories... How could I ever forget? :) Bought the series (both seasons) and still watch them regularly. Already watched all the episodes twice (thrice if counting with the original TV series)
there's a HUGE differences between the first european serie ( very good screenplayers, (johnny byrne etc.) visual effects, ( Brian johnson and the crew of "Alien") costumes( Rudi Genreich) guets artist like Christopher Lee. Peter Cushing, Joan Collins etc and the crappy american second serie....
@MrDebbieHarryfan ah the second series of a show that was UFO that failed to make it in the USA so became Space 1999, better than UFO in many ways but always chasing the dam yanks for money to make a go of it. Not Gerrys failure but that of the industry that there was that pressure to sell to the states where the public ct tell their arse from their elbow. Just a massive shame, such a strong premiss.
@magikmoonmark I'm talking about Space 1999 first 24 episodes ( 1° series) with Barry Morse, and Space 1999 ( 2° series) another 24 episodes with Catherine Schell.
I'm not talking about UFO, wich is antecedent and a totally different show.
I was only 12 when I started watching this show, but even at 12 this show seemed silly. I read that Martin Landau was incredibly frustrated at the decreasing quality of the show's writing, to the point of declaring he was embarrassed to be associated with SPACE 1999.
Bravo......I have wondered for years what happened to the people on moonbase alpha, finally one last transmission. My favorite show of all time. I watched the whole story...............bravo. My mattel eagle lander has long since been gone, but never the memories.
Beautifully done. I've just found this and its....closure....closure to a series I used to make sure I watched ever Thursday evening in the 70's. To the team that did this, simply...thank you.
Man. Hate to be the grouch, but this is as depressing as watching puppies die of cancer. Did they pass out free sample packets of Prozac at the convention this was aired at?
Maybe that's why the show's ratings weren't so hot. All of their viewers blew their brains out after just one episode.
@MiHiVidz, if you wasn't a viewer or fan of the show, I can see where you would be coming from. Otherwise, Space: 1999 was a more existential sci-fi odyssey than we've become comfortable with in the last three decades. Uncertainty was around every corner. All that held the inhabitants together was their common bond and a belief in a higher purpose. Not that this epilogue was rosy in any sense ... but in a lot of ways it captured the essence of the series.
@fuzzyprism Actually I was (owned the Eagle toy and everything). Just that boy this was a real downer to watch. It makes the Galactica reboot look upbeat.
Thank you for posting this. I'd heard about years ago, but have never had the chance to see it until now. I'm impressed. This is such a well done fan made video. Zenia is marvelous. She really sells it to the viewer. And she looks lovely.
Checked out some of the videos on space2099.tv and you've done a great job on those, i love the 16x9, and the 'new effects' where they were sorely needed. hell if these ever were completed in full episodes and put out on discs I'd buy 'em in a heartbeat!
I stumbled across this a while ago, and it brought a smile. Great to see a wrap-up to the story delivered by one of the original characters. "Space: 1999" was a real mind-bender, and had some of the best special FX and ship designs of its time. The Andersons can be pleased with what they did, and this little epilogue made me interested in finding out the events on the new planet! Nice!
This series had a powerful impact on my future career. I now own my own 3D animation studio and we are working on our 1st scifi feature.

So, in 20 years we're going to get a final message from Eli telling us what happened to everyone aboard the Destiny?
Stupid SciFi network.

The producers probably couldn't afford him. This was a fan made video and a very well made one at that.

@airdriver I agree. Martin Landau is now a big time Oscar winning actor. I doubt he would had come cheap, especially if he has a good agent.

Filmed at Andew's house, lol. Great stuff. Too bad nothing new or updated never came about. So good to hear Barry Gray's music, too.
