@boulderbeta not true! my first 12 meter foil kite costed me $320 and i sold it for $200 a year later. my second foil kite (13 meter Ozone Frenzy) costed me $700 and i sold it for $350 2 years later. 3 years of snowkiting and i spent about $500 (gotta have a trainer kite and a smaller kite for the big days) on kites. i already snowboard and ski. but i no longer have to wait in life lines and no season tickets. i saved about $2,000 in 3 years!
@boulderbeta dude, read my reply again. i said you gotta have a trainer and a small kite. harness? i can get a new one for under $80. don't which part of the wood you live in. no sensible kiter will tell newbies to buy old equipment and just start trying themselves. but no sensible kiter should tell newbies to buy new kites for practice either. none of my friends who started kiting with my instructions ever got a setup more than $600.
@57106 you don't need a special trip like this if you have a kite. the back country opens up with a kite! cost is around $1200 to start up. most of BLM land in the rockies are free to kite on since it is not motorized.
@DeniskaFromRussia the kite is an inflatable. so, it won't fold in mid air. but it is possible that the kite might break in mid air. that's why you don't use old equipment for this sort of actions. BTW, kite making technology has improve so much that this is pretty easy and low key now.
i REALLY want to learn this shit!!!

@topsecret371 it looks more scary than it really is. search "glide guide" on kitesite.com's channel and you'll see how manageable it is. ;)
