  • I LUV IT .....

  • Wow - talk about a bunch of comments out of touch. The Blind Boys are a national treasure - check out the quilting women as well. Expand your horizons to include the historical soul of this great country.

  • So spiritual :)

  • I just saw them in Saint Augustine Florida. They were so great! I am grateful to have seen them . Thank you .

  • thank you

  • Very good!!!! I saw you in France!!!! That was the fire in the public!!!!!!! Thank you!

  • i'm deperatly searching for this riverside

  • Great

  • A Fantastic performance at Stockholm Jazz Festival yesterday!

  • They were playing yesterday at Stockholm Jazz festival. Cool guys. One of them was there when the band was founded 1939, can that be correct?

  • Petersjazz1, sorry that I replied to the wrong person: 1939 was 70 years ago, so that sounds about right! All of that exercise performing probably helped him live a long life! They can really move a crowd too!

  • Yes. His name is Jimmy Carter--He's often the guy who speaks to the audience.

  • impressive

  • 1939 was 70 years ago, yes, that sounds correct. The group has been around for a long time. All of that dancing and singing means plenty of exercise, which leads to a long life!

  • Hey these guys came to my town,

    they were awesome!

Its weird to see them on NG, cause I thought they were not well known (my town has only 1000 people)

  • No u.

  • I saw these guys tonight in Ithaca and they brought the house down!

  • I'm trying to figure out why the horn player would interrupt by taking the microphone from the blind singer...they were doing just fine.

He should have concentrated on his horn and not singing.

  • Amen!

  • it was set rehearsed. just look again. you will see the mic get passed over waiting.

  • lol it says at the end "not seeing the best music in the world?" as an advert for their geo sessions...kind of ironic lolz.

  • and t-pain on the bass.

  • actually (trae pierce) the bass players idol was bootsy collins if u ever heard of him....he wore that hat way before t-pain even came out

  • any Stevie Wonder with Bootsy Collins was the best of Stevie..

  • Blind Boys Of Alabama Rock! I think one of them went on to his reward this last year. What a home coming that must have been. He was blind but now WOW!

  • Very Cool ..... Loved It

  • I thought THEY were the band. They just sing, still good nontheless.

  • This has got to be a super concert! Worth seeing in its entirety.

  • I thought the equipment they were using was more interesting then the players, actually.

Im not hating on the singers, or players. Just nerding over the mics and interesting looking instruments.

  • Looks sorta like what high school bands use at games.

  • This may be so but the instruments they are using are inexspensive versions of other much more exspensive instruments. For instance, take the bass players bass guitar. If he were to play an upright bass it would cost a lot more money and be more easily damaged. For those of you who think electric=most costly youre wrong. Upright basses can cost you upward of 50k easily. Also the instruments they are using are easier to transport than their counterparts.

  • Yes thats kind of what i was thinking. It never crossed my mind these guys would have the top of the line instruments. If i had to guess these guys dont have a regular band but just join up with whomever is free to play at the time. Sound great whatever the case might be , i'am going to buy all there albums ASAP.

  • @Hollrobb In this video, the Blind Boys of Alabama are performing with Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans. The 2 groups recorded Grammy award winning album, Down in New Orleans, including this song, in 2007 or 2008.

The Blind Boys do have their own band, including blind drummer and vocalist, Mr. Ricky McKinnie. In this clip, he isn't playing the drums. He's singing vocals.

  • have you lived under a rock like forever? those are pretty regular instruments:trumpets, saxophones, bass guitar, drums, tuba, guitar, clarinet.

    whats interesting looking?

  • cool! ;) thanks for posting NG well done, great video!

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • Look at dudes hair at 1:24 lOl!!! man u know he aint got no woman

  • Only someone without a woman would feel the need to insult someone like that. Cheap blows are for suckers.
