@JASONCALEDONIA Hey, thanks man. Heheh - to each his own. Jazz - is my favorite style. SRV definitely had some of that in his influence, sometimes mentioning Kenny Burrell. Lenny and Riviera Paradise are both very smooth, and mellow also.
Really great job!!!! This is the he song that got me into the guitar as well... i've been trying to learn it ever since...Well done and thanks for sharing!
Wait, i'm picking up my brais from the floor... that was absolutely freaking awesome dude!!!! Congratulations first of all for your effort, and secondly for your playing. Watching things like this make me want to improve... thanks from Chile.
Rock on dude, I give you 9 stars maybe 9.5 if it were not for the two sour notes and you know which two they were I could see it on your face. Really though you are good. This is the song that caused me to buy a stratocaster, only owned acoustic 6 and 12 strings before.
Dude, this is just fantastic and awesome guitar playing--this is an incredibly difficult but subtle song-- the little details you pick up on, the overall tone, the timing-- all just fantastic-- would like to see you play live for sure. -and this video, is just very satisfying to watch as you lay it down just like Stevie did in plain sight. Thanks
@Flatted357 Thank you very much. I learned this song a very long time ago (8 years ago), and this is THE song which got me obsessed about the guitar. So I really put a lot of effort into lifting this by ear. I could not find an accurate tab. I think some of the licks are not what he's doing, but i tried to get it as close based on what I heard :) Thanks for listening. Keep in touch. I plan on doing some videos soon, and make it a regular thing.
what does it say about SRV when people cover HIS VERSION of Little Wing over Jimi's? --well, it says a lot,... this little skinny white kid actually outplayed the master at his own song. oh yea, this white guy here, he covers it it quite well as well--was SRV actually better than Hendrix? do you see anyone covering a SRV song as articulated by another guitarist? why not? His playing cannot be improved upon,... period. He was the best.
@JSGuitarAcademy if you go to my site, you will see I can cover Hendrix fairly well -- and I can tell you, SRV is more difficult to learn, as it is more in his hands than his amps--I think the SRV and JH are number 1 and 2 and so I respect your opinion-- from a guitarist point of view, Stevie is just quite unbelievable. If Jimi is better, its closer than you describe.
@2fulltilt I think the lick is: G - A - G (the A and the second G are very fast) and then a Trill with hammer ons: Trill:(D-E-D-E-D-E-D-E) on the D string.
@6161guitarplayer Hey. Yes I will soon record youtube guitar lessons. They will have a bit of a different approach. I will try to teach beginners how to improvise with minimum theoretical knowledge, and more by using shapes and listening. Thanks a lot for listening man, and for the kind words.
fantastic job! but you wouldn't get lost sometimes if you did your own thing, i mean, based on srv's solo you could improvise sometimes, keep it up m/
@Shlaff Thanks man. I usually EQ the amp like this: Bass: 5/12 Mid: 7/12 Highs: 6/12 So, nothing drastic on the amp EQ. I like to do the real EQing using Multiband EQ on the software. I used cakewalk Sonar 3.0. The sound you are hearing is quite different from what was coming out of the amplifier at the time of recording. Most of the sound tweaking comes from the software using multiband EQ and effects such as delay and reverb. hope this helps
@Moonwynd Thanks bro I appreciate it :) This song is the one that taught me how to play... I remember sitting home for hours, lifting it, while everyone i knew was at a party. Everything else was just non existant to me at that time :) This song is magic, and i will never forget it.
AWESOME job dude. You are are truly on top of your game. I have been playing 35 years and I know whjat I am talking about. You nailed it brother. It was a pleasure to hear your rendition of this clasic tune. Thanks for sharing!

Spot on playing dude, sounds great. How would you rate the quality of the Warmoth neck? I'm thinking about getting a solid rosewood neck for my Strat as well. Did the solid RW neck give you a lot more sustain?
@mojo292 Hey man. Thanks. I really like the warmoth neck. Didn't have to do any fret dressing or filing. No buzz. Heavy strings, medium action though. About the sustain: honestly speaking I cannot tell which part contributed what, because I upgraded virtually everything in this guitar already. But i definitely like this neck better than the stock maple highway one neck. This guitar has a great sustain (i would be mad if it didn't, after all the money i spent on it :P )
amazing job! although i gotta say, i dont think i agree with changing the neck on the guitar, even if it is to get the "warmer" sound it gives, but thats just me. anyways, nice job again, sounds perfect.
Hey man. Yeah it's the same guitar. The reason I tried a different neck for this is because SRV used #1 for little wing, which has a rosewood fingerboard. I wanted to get an overall thicker, warmer sounding tone for little wing, so I used a neck made entirely out of rosewood. Also it has very large frets and thicker at the nut (1 7/8) and also a fat profile. So i tried to "simulate" an SRV neck, and take advantage of my big hands as well.
Great tone, but could you please tell me how you go about running the signal from the ART tube mp into the computer? Specifically, do you plug it into the mic input on the computer, or do you plug it into a usb audio interface?
I actually have an M-Audio Delta 1010LT audio interface. It has 10 ins and 10 outs on it. It's onboard (pci). I am using a 1/4" to 2 RCA cable to plug it into one of the Analog ins on the Delta. Before I had the delta, I always used Line In on my sound card. I heard that using the mic input is noisy on regular sound cards. I'd advise using the Line-in. I've done that before and it sounds clean. But its good to have an audio interface.
Thanks! What a low latency sound card! Now I'm wondering what the minimal system requirements would be for me to use something like Cakewalk Sonar in real time without any glitches. I'll bet they give a conservative estimate on their website. Could you tell me your processor speed, whether it's dual core, and RAM size? Then I'd have an example of something that works. You could post your FSB speed (the speed of communication between the processor and the RAM), too, if you know it.
I might have recorded this when I had 2 GB though. My cakewalk usually eats 800 MB ram maximum, while its running with all its addons. At 24bit audio, I get a 4.7 MS delay. That's quite a small delay. I couldn't work with a 20-30 ms. But 4.7 sec is really nice actually.
Very, VERY nice!!!! GREAT touch and superb vibrato! So refreshing after seeing countless players with spastic bends and "billy goat" vibratos on you tube (LOL) much respect!
This is really really well played and very true to the original in my opinion, At least how I remember it sounding. Except for one little missounding chord which I won't mention becuase of the totally this ism, again, really really well played! Regards
is it easy to bend?
