I think this song is simply heart breaking because it's real. You wait too long and suddenly they're gone. Suddenly you want to say something, but you can't. If you ask me it's not just another song, it's, sadly, a true story.

The day I always fret has come true, this song finally applies to me. The girl I've been infatuated with for the past 8 years is getting married, it happened so quickly and unexpected too. But such is life.

If only people could grasp the greatness of Ben Gibbard's lyrics, especially in this song. It's a heart wrenching piece. Can you imagine, the girl of your dreams getting married to someone else, and yet, still attending the wedding. Company Calls part 1, for me is still as painful to hear, cause it's like he's numbing the pain with alcohol, whereas with the Epilogue, he's now fully intoxicated and CLEARLY expressing his true feelings, Hard to explain, but I feel like I can fully identify.
