  • Susan is such a great singer. It's such a shame that she can't patch up her relationship with her ex husband, master songwriter,Terry Jacks.

  • @Bingowingsong There must be a good reason....perhaps there's more to the story than meets the eye.

  • THIS SONG TAKES ME BACK TO WHEN I WAS TRAVELLING TO TORONTO WHEN I WAS EIGHTEEN. IT ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL SAD. JUDA59ful

  • this is a proper tune...i love hearing new stuff...especially when it's old....and cool!!! : )

  • Musical "success" is far more reaching than just the measurement of

units sold commercially .Ask any musician worth his salt who pursues their

art passionately and also keeps their day job.As for an accurate recollection of events that happened during a divorce 38 years ago,I suggest that memories have evolved over time to suit the individual. They each had their day.

  • @Bingowingsong Susan Jacks is still performing because of her passion for music....thankfully, her day is not over. Perhaps it's somewhat presumptuous to assume one's memory isn't accurate when you don't know the details.

  • That's not true. She probably had an influence and all by being in the control room wIth him at times and being the singer etc.,but having done many sessions for Terry myself, I know his modus operandi first hand.Terry was the producer for the Poppy Family lock stock and barrel. He told me he wouldn't even let her in the room when he was writing songs .To see this song posted as a Susan solo effort is misleading to say the least.

  • @Bingowingsong It's interesting though that Terry Jacks hasn't had any musical success to speak of since Seasons In The Sun which was recorded before Susan Jacks left the marriage. I know for a fact that she was in the studio for every second of the recording sessions and totally involved right down to the mixing. It appears Terry Jacks' modus operandi is also to take all the credit for everything, although you are correct in that Susan Jacks was not involved in the writing.

  • @Bingowingsong Susan was in the studio at all times when recording with the Poppy Family and was involved in the production from beginning to end. As to the writing of songs, Susan had no interest to be involved at that point and was happy to stay out of the way. It wasn't until the 1980s that Susan became a staff songwriter in Nashville.

  • Let us not forget that this was written and produced by Terry Jacks.

  • @Bingowingsong Let us also not forget that Susan Jacks co-produced it

  • Such a wonderful voice Susan has, like a fine instrument!

  • See this ring? Tell me, what's it mean to you? Yeah it's pretty, but to me it just meant true. I'm so sorry, for being such a bore..cause this ring & everything's nothing anymore............ This bus is awful cold we've gone so many miles, God please help me goto sleep & forget him for a while.

  • just great listening to Susan. The beauty about lyrics is that you can interpret them how you wish and that's ok, 'cause that's the art :)

  • long bus trips always make me cry...

  • The songs about her dad.

  • @NessaGhouliful Hmm, don't think so.

She talks about a ring, the ring she says "means nothing anymore." Definitely about the end of a marriage. "I was the one that trusted him" implies he probably cheated or was abusive.

  • @redrosestoo Well start thinking so. She said it in a radio interveiw when it came out. Learn your history.

  • @NessaGhouliful Adjust your tone. The words in the song don't indicate that, whatever she might have said elsewhere. There might be more back-story to the song than I'm aware of--I didn't have the luxury of hearing the radio interview you mentioned, as I was a young child. But you could have let me know that without being a sarcastic jerk in the process.

  • @redrosestoo My tone? lol Loser. You must read the Bible as well don't you? Don't read to much into the lyrics.,, they obviously confuse you.

  • a song about rejection BUT i acept it thanks for the bus ride back in time this is where I get off 1uptospeed

  • Listed closely......he beat her........and she tells her story.........a strong message!!!.........suffice to say, you know who you are.

  • OMG!!!! Where did you find this jewel!!!!! I haven't heard this but once or twice in the last 35 years or so!!!! I was 27 and still had my motorcycle when this came out and it brings tears to the eyes of this big tough ol' guy!!! I love you for posting this and if I could I'd give you a big bear hug!!!! TenStarsplus!!!! Kudos!!!!! You da man!!!

  • @BigDuckKetterer I like this song a lot but it's a mono recording. The is available in stereo you know!

  • I had this on 45 around 1970. People could really sing great back then.
