Jeez. What's all this cafuffle about him being black? Who cares? As long as he's a good actor, that's what matters. I know a lot of people follow the book to a T (my best friend being one of them); but to be honest, there's bound to be differences. Look at Harry Potter, Bone Collector, Goodnight Mr Tom; all changed in some way, sometimes insignificant ways.

So the book never specified Laurent was black; it doesn't matter. He's hired, he's in it now. And he sounds like he'll do a good job.

And if you havent noticed, just about everytime there was a change from the book between the book and the movie, the movie got worse. I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, just that in most of the cases, the change is bad. If I recall Bella was supposed to have a widow's peak and lips that didn't quite fit her jaw line and edward was supposed to have very full lips and a long straight nose., James was supposed to have light brown hair with very average features. The movie skipped alot of details. But you probably didin't even pick up on those did you?

i personally just wished they did better on the scene where james calls bella but i will live i would keep the movie we were given rather than not have one at all.

his hair was supposed to be short too but they ok'd the long hair with Stephanie so im cool with it.

Well growup! There's no such thing as a perfect cast. There's always something somewhere that's wrong. I personally think they did an amazing job. Hell, Robert even looks like the Edward I had pictured in my head. And I like James. He looks scarier with his long hair. When he has his hair short he looks like a beachboy. So I think they did a good job casting for the parts.

Not always.. besides in one of the books they describe the south American vampires as looking different and only being pale and illuminated in the sunlight. South Americans are usually darker than "olive toned" by the way. So yeah, you don't know what your talking about. =]
