  • I always loved this song and always will!

  • beautiful song. always makes me feel like i can do anything.

  • @andywarstarforever Timestamp?

  • TY

  • Lisa is coming back : - )

  • Billy playing a Gretsch? Cool.

  • The intro was amazingly done, I think they should keep this even though Lisa isn't playing with them.

  • One of my all time favorite songs, it's a dam shame SP ain't as well know as they should be.

  • the greatest song in the history of the world. one of the best performances. it was thick, transcendant, nostalgic, indescribable and mystical

  • Billy's singing has REALLY gotten better over the years. He's mellowed out on the guitar a little bit, but it looks like he's taken the whole 'frontman' thing seriously.

In his younger years Billy would just shred the holy hell out of the guitar and maybe throw some words into the mic if he was close enough to it.

  • I went to the melbourne concert, didn't sleep at all the day before, downed a full bottle of JD, and barely remeber shit. I woulda remebered this tho if they played it i think. PLEASE SP dont play festival hall again! It sucks, I dont goto concerts there anymore. Play Rod Laver next time!

  • i love how your a fag

  • I don't understand what's so good about them! I hearing to see why it's so famous but... ... .. ..

  • @in1pieces you lost me by hearing... I think you need to rewrite that sentance :S

  • @in1pieces you don´t have to "hear the music".. this that everyone does .. you have to feel it.. the lyrics and music in the same time .. if you can´t do that you are just deaf..

  • I have a copy of this whole concert, and it is AMAZING. I think Billy should have released this as a proper album. It would have sold quick.

  • i tempi saranno cambiati, la band pure...ma questa canzone rimane una delle più belle mai scritte.

  • Billy:James::Axl:Slash

    They need each other.

  • sort of, billy needs james but james is probably better off without him hahaha

  • nope

  • wow 1:27 he looks like he forgot the lyrics

  • @ericthehurdler lol

    You can nev...

    mumble mumble...live...

    hahaha so AWESOME.

I can never remember my own lyrics either...

    ;P

  • Respond to this video... 1:32

"Yeah, that sounds righr... right? Well, if they werent, they are now... rock on"

    LoLlll

  • do u think he can still sing this good?

  • tornate....

  • right on

  • Such a beautiful song. Romantic, fantastical, reminescent voyage of the unbelievable. And Billy just has a voice that is beautiful in it's ugliness. Truly wonderful songwriters. Thank you guys. Keep writing, keep touring, and give this generation the timeless songs you gave generation X. May you live forever.

  • nice :)

  • Égua da banda!!! muito boa!!!

    Pai dégua mesmo

  • I love the pumpkins, but what is probably best about them is the drumming and Corgan's showmanship/songwriting ability. I'm no fan of the bass work (a 6th grader who's been playing for less than half a year could do it. I was living proof 3 years ago) and the rhythm guitar seems almost redundant since Corgan's doing the same stuff, though it's still nice to have.

  • the point of bass is to keep it simple and keep the band in rhythm along with the drums. Also, it gives a tune to the song. that's why the bass is the easiest part to play.

  • You're not a bass player are you? It's true, you've gotta keep the rhythm, but there's NOTHING in the figurative bass handbook that says it has to be simple. There are PLENTY of ways to make it a hard, fun, even melodic part and still "keep the rhythm."

Seriously, listen to Rush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, King Crimson, Weather Report, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones and Stevie Wonder before you say things as ignorant as you just did.

  • i'm sorry if i offended you. but don't be so emotional. freedom of speech. by the way, i do play bass. will this make you happy?- usually it's easy. so don't get emtional on me. i don't want to start an arguement.

  • I'm not offended. I just thought that what you said was very ignorant.

And if you're playing stuff like SP, it's definitely going to be easy. As a bass player, you're not likely to get good by looking up to these guys. Though guitar, Drums and songwriting are a totally different story.

  • I agree, just listen to how creative Flea is. I actually get some of his bass lines stuck in my head as opposed to the guitar solos. No offense to John though, he is a great guitarist

  • Definitely. RHCP is an incredibly bass driven band. Though if you like them, check out Rush. Geddy Lee makes Flea look like a 4 year old (though he has been doing it since Flea was a kid). Also, John Mayer. With him, you either love him or you hate him, but regardless, there's some crazy guitar going on, and he plays it sort of like a bass.

  • you my friend, are either really funny or dangerously misinformed

  • I agree. Yeah. The band I'm in, we keep it simple.

  • Then to each his/her own. In my bands, we play either jazz or all out wankery.

  • Agreed.

  • ginger sling or d'arcy wretzky?

    it's a toss up.

  • d'arcy wretzky.

she had this mystique about her that many people found alluring. she was so damn cool...

  • dat was an amazing performance!!!!!!!!

  • I don't like the new way he is singing as much, there seems to be less expression in it

  • Personally, I love the Pumpkins for being themselves, even in diverse opinions like this, because atleast Jimmy and Corgan can see it as the Pumpkins, even without the original line-up. I love the new material, as much as I love the old. My only gripe with the new line-up is that the new Pumpkins line-up doesn't give as good a stage performance, they rely to much on Gimmicks, like back in the days of Adore and Machina. But besides that, SP love forever.

  • it appears blue lighting is used for all the old songs, and red lightig for the zeitgeist songs.the blue is a lot easier on the eye and they look cooler in blue, goes better with billy's stripes.

  • Great song!!! My all time favorite!!! It seems that Billy is enjoing whit this song!!! I love SP!!!

  • whats the piano solo in the beginning of the vid called, I'm not familiar with it.

  • Play it all the time now

  • great! he's so happy when audience is singing chorus with him.

  • this is why i love this band.

  • whoa billy's voice changed so much! this one is nore towards normal voice...i like his abnormal voice! hahaha whatever that means! now it's not so unique anymore :(

  • I love how billy smiles during the chorus.

  • I love that too

  • aw, yeah.

  • Amazing, what a great performance. The pumpkins are still as great as they ever were.

  • this is great, but i was hoping that the symphony would be louder, its what makes this song so great. i also love the way billy bobs his head at all the singing gaps

  • billy corgan is great but I was hopin james and melissa would be apart of the reunion

  • Billy and Jimmy are the Pumpkins. Who cares about James and Darcy? Really? The Pumpkins are fully back in action.

  • organly it was just billy and james then darcy joined and they were just pissing around with a drum machine then jimmy joined.

  • James was fuckin good man.. Every one of them.. Billy James Jim and that chick... They were the best of the pumpkins together

  • that chick? you mean d'arcy? She's not just some chick... she was an amazingly talented bassist.

  • @gothless Sean.

  • wow wow wow! The Pumpkins are the greatest!

  • foda muito foda

  • This is awesome they still sound great

  • Siamese Dream was recorded with just him and James, and that's their best album. James did co-write "Mayonnaise", tho. anyway, Billy is still writing great music, which is cool. And I can't wait to see them live!

That being said, I just fuckin' love it when Ginger wears skirts that make her ass look enourmous. That is all.

  • Him and Jimmy, I meant.

  • And 4 some reason a tear came down, i love this song.

  • dont you guys diss billy corgan of smashing pumpkins because they r the best no matter what, they might not have the same people but the songs are still with them. which they rock.

  • billy pulled a "sting". Darcy and james will eventually be back, but for now, Billy's into artistic masturbation

  • I am so glad that they are back... unfortunately is not the same line up but it is so good to have them back!... Beautiful... I love this song.

  • fuck u dude

blilly corgan is talented in nearly every way but he would never have made it without band members like james iha who painted his portrait. billy is the visionary but he is not the whole band

  • beautyful!

  • Still can't believe SP is back. I love that song.

  • man his voice has rotted out

  • It's funny you said that because his next album is a companion peice to Rotten Apples. It's called Rotten Voices.

  • matwyco, are you saying that their new album bombed as far as sales go? If so, then I'd say don't worry: it's not even released yet, so how could it have bombed?? If you're saying as a creative venture, then I can respect that (I haven't decided. I think what I've heard so far is pretty solid, it might have to grow on me still).

  • I think matwkyo was saying that it wasn't quite as good as the older CDs like Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream. In which case I agree however it is still a great CD and it's nice to have SP back, don'tcha think?

  • pumpkins rock even though there new cd kinda bombed

  • i feel bad for jeff and ginger because they had to learn this and like 100 other songs. In a matter of weeks. Love TSP!

  • I feel bad that D'arcy and James aren't part of the band, which makes it hard for me to think of them as the Smashing Pumpkins...

  • As far as I'm concerned Billy Corgan IS the Smashing Pumkins, all the other members have basicly followed his direction and gotton famous off his talent.

  • yay pumpkins!

  • illinois! CHICAGO! they might not be coming to you for a moment, but he did sing "the place that I was born" instead of "the place that you were born"...

    - it's love, it's who you are...

  • billy sings way different now, i guess age is kicking in...

  • well, i would find it funny if he would dare to sing the same way that he did 10 years ago...

  • thats simply a fantastic performance

  • First SP song I ever heard and in my opinion their best this is the song that made me a Pumpkin fan

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE TSP!

  • Amazing song by the best band in the world.

  • ooh, i love them sooo much! i'm actually singing along to the video as i watch...

  • absolutly stunning

  • This is a wonderful performance. I hope I get to see then soon. Love it when Billy smiles.

  • ok basically im goin to reading festival 07 to see Sp who are by the way the best band in thi hole freaking world! but do u recon they will be in a signing tent?

  • How can this not have like 500 comments already?! This is one of the best performances I've seen. The lights are awesome and Billy's voice is sounding better than ever. I got tickets to see them in Glasgow today, so I'm absolutely flying...I wish it were August already! Hopefully by then the chemistry in the band will be at it's most potent. Love.

  • because it was added this morning? - that's why it doesn't have 500 comments already :D

  • Edyta Górniak - biutifull Polish artist

  • OMG SO GOOD!!!

  • lol

  • Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan & Jimmy Chamberlain together again, Tonight Tonight performed LIVE in 2007...the stuff dreams are made of !!

  • Gosh, I saw them about 10 years ago for the Mellon Collie tour, and D'Arcy and James Iha have changed so much! It would be a real tripto see them now. From what I've seen, they sound the same as they did 10 years ago. I'm so glad to see them back together!

  • Before anyone else gets the chance to make me look stupid, I'm replying to my own comment first. I just did a little research and I realized that D'Arcy and James Iha are not back with the band. I guess the video was a little fuzzy so I couldn't tell. They fooled me.

  • It is a Gretsch.

  • Easily one of the best performances of this song I've ever seen.

  • Anybody happens to know which guitar our dear billy is playing?

  • Maybe the greatest moment of the show... Amazing, beautiful, magic :D

  • beautiful =)

    Billy looks so happy!
