  • i probably should have watched this before attempting to flip my pasta last night... then i wouldn't have gone to bed frustrated and hungry.

  • I tried this today while sauteing mushrooms!! My dad was impressed =D

  • thanks man, really good tutorial, simple and straight forward

  • this guys is great ...his show is awsome... watch it every day

  • you've gotta seperate all those beans from the rice now xD

  • try flipping an omelette

is easier than a stir fry but the exact same motion

the biggest factor to overcome is really ur lack of confidence and fear of failing

  • Few people can break down English Language in precise detail to explain psycho-motor actions. First you do the sharp upward motion flip, then in as quickly as possible you pull the pan towards you. Almost like rolling your wrist and short quick stroke pushing handle down and quick short pull.

Two successive motions that are somewhat difficult to coordinate at first, at least for me. is to download video and watch in slow motion. First flip pan up, then quickly pull handle back.

  • @VealParmigiana You have it the other way around, you want to do the pulling motion first so the food has momentum in the direction towards you (in the horizontal plane). The upwards flip then puts the food into vertical motion, combining with the horizontal momentum to provide a diagonal final motion towards you.

If the vertical motion comes first and you pull back after the food is in the air it will just come straight back down.

  • yea like i wanna be picking up rice n beans off the floor...

  • I tried this just earlier on my own while sautéing veggies for dinner and only could get the far edge to flip. (yeah, maybe that counts as pathetic kind of bragging) But with this video, I am definitely going to try again! Though a *dry* run like you showed.

  • Hi i want to learn flipping.. really bad for my college next year but cant quite sus it out i tried it today and wasnt too Great have u any advice for me? --- also ur my inspiration :)

  • Nice job Ming, however, we all know the best way to learn is to flip a pan full of oil over an open flame.

  • awesome! now I can wow people. hehehe

  • why do i love this dude so much?

  • because he's asian

  • I love these tips. Simply Ming is a nice show. He's one of the nicest/easiest tv chefs to learn from (IMHO) :)

  • Simply Ming is a great cook. Him and Gordon Ramsey are my favorites.

  • i always watch his show on t.v.! on kyve create.

  • On YouTube I notice he teaches technique, not recipes. FINALLY, something useful!! I first heard of him today, and now I want to find out if I can get him on TV

  • ahaa i always watch his shows on t.v.

  • omggg like wow, now i know!

  • O__O i never knew how

    wow.

  • This fella is way better he isn't a mean prick

  • Gordon Ramsey is only a prick because he has to be. The chefs that he has in hells kitchen are retarded. one example. in one episode one of the chefs turned out raw chicken. why was the chicken raw you ask? because the ass forgot to turn on the oven. but yea i like ming too. keep up the great work dude

  • who's better him or gordon ramzy

  • I am.

  • @adibeh Ming it's gotta be.

  • @adibeh

    Ramsay is..

  • @adibeh Ramsey

  • @adibeh ramzy? is he a chef in your local fish and chips restaurant?

  • @adibeh THERES ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT **FIGHT**

  • Selam! Hello!

Thanks for these great videos, Ming. I watch you Saturdays in Los Angeles. I also love how you have guests like Emeril, Lidia, etc. How about having the guy from Barbecue America on when you do your" gearing up for summer" episodes with some episodes about Asian sytle BBQ dishes such as Chicken, Duck and Asian style food-smoking with that ceramic pear shaped smoker they use in China? Some good ideas, huh? Not bad coming from an Abyssinian chef, huh? Take care, Ming.

    Teru Minilik

  • hmm. i have no problems with my right hand. but in the kitchen ur supposed to use ur stronger hand to hold the tongs or spatula. and if i use my left hand, foods with sauces will splatter. any help?

  • When you toss food, the point is, you're tossing it. no other tools are necessary! so, put your tongs or spatula down and use you're strong hand for the tossing. =]

  • Great stuff Ming!!

  • l'awesome!

    nice vid.
