call att 1800-331-0500.

ask operator for "subsidy unlock code"

it will be given to you for FREE at no charge.

(they will delay and ask all sorts of questions)

they will offer you deals and such dont give in.

all they need is your IMEI number found on battery compartment.

both. it's unlocked now coz i can use different sim card or smartchip aside from at&t network and it's hacked coz of the mods i've done with it like the theme manager, the message tone the screenlock and any other stuffs that you can't do normally unless you have the tools needed. it's also thru flashing files. :D
