Its amazing how underrated Watchmen the film is. I think if people who haven't read Watchmen, should rewatch it with the mindset that its not going to some simple punch and run superhero movie, but expect a deep complex study of life interpreted with superheroes. They will realize how amazing Zach's adaption is.
I've become a fan of Zack's stuff. I enjoyed his take on Dawn of the Dead. Same with 300 and Watchmen. I'm a fan of both graphic novels. I really enjoyed Legend of the Guardians. Looking forward to Superman and I'm not a big Superman fan.

I thought the Watchmen movie was excellent. Critics did not quite get it. But I think time will improve it in the eyes of critics. It was a well done and rewatchable film. It has a timeless quality that may give it more praise and dollars from viewers of the DVD and cable rather than box office theatre.
i saw the movie about a week ago and i didnt think it was tht disturbing sure it was a bit gory but its coming from the guy who created 300 DUUUUUHHHHHH of course it is going to be a bit gory. The worst part was rochachs story with the little girl being fed to dogs and how rochach kills the guy who did it. But other than tht i found it kinda mild to medium gore factor. Just a note for the end im 12 so wat i find disturbing is tht i can get my hands on watchmen at almost any movie store.

You're a teenager, and you also completely missed my point, I was 14 when i read it too. But watchmen is not directed at kids. It was for one gruesome and gory, but also really dark. And I'd be surprised if a child managed to follow the plot line.
Yeah, the movie really is much different than the average movie today. It was very dark, disturbing, and real. The story line was a little tough to follow. Overall, the story was outstanding.
also, i'm hoping that at the age of 14, you're not really finding impotency and middle age crisis relatable to you. Sure, maybe the non-nuclear family situation may be relatable (Spectre 2), but not from an adult point of view. Really dark stuff, just happen to involve masks and "crime fighting". Suitable for kids?? debatable, but definately not made for them to be relatable.

I personally think they did a shit job only because they took the original lines and scattered them everywhere whereas in the full motion comic ( episodes not a movie) WAS the comic, but done in such a " don't have to cheap out of the story because we only have an hour and a half to tell it" But still, did an awesome job on Dr. Manhattan considering it was live action ( even tho his voice is so wrong for the part...) :)

Aw, I like his logic - that he'd sooner have been responsible for it failing, than letting the project go to some other director who didn't have the same interest in the original book. I think his film was the most faithful theater-length version of Watchmen we were ever gonna get tbh.
I think it was the most faithful adaptation ever, I mean, 300 and Sin City were too, but none of them were so visually stunning, at the very least Snyder made the movie look amazing...oh and the actual movie its self was pretty good too.

well it is true that the movie does not exactly correlate to the book but if you look at it this way, When the movie Twilight came out not many people new about the book and due to the movie many fans were created and book sales grew tremendously, so in a way this movie can expose the material to new fans and expand the fan base

the action we see in the trailer is the EXACT action that happens in the graphic novel. trailers are made to attract people and (unfortunately) the easiest way is by showing an action-filled trailer. this than-again does not have to mean the trailer is bad or the film for that matter.

Your judging a film by the trailer? Both trailers are made up of scenes exactly from the graphic novel and yes I am currently reading it. Go read Watchmen and look at the screen shots in the trailer. You will see that they are the same. Also the trailer does make it look like an action film but that is only to draw audiences in. Don't blame the director for how the trailer is edited. As I stated before everyone who has seen the 25 minute clip and a rough cut of the film has loved it!
Remember that comics and movies are different, you can't pretend a 100% adaptation of the graphic novel, plus about the market, he can make a smart movie, but it needs eye candy to atract the average moviegoer. I think that he can do something pretty good, lets just wait.

altough it is true that snyder seems far under experienced to throw him this important of project, he did not write the screen play. the screen play is written by the guy who did x-men 1 and 2, which im not saying is a good thing or a bad thing, but at least prior knowledge to what works and what doesnt when converting the comic into live motion. Look at the comic-con trailer you can see where this guy's brain is. The way that roarschach took that grappling hook and jumped up on the balcony is absolutely RIDICULOUS! He doesnt understand. well if its anything like the other comic/graphic novel stuff he has done im sure it will be a steller movie. The story is already set in stone its up to him to make the graphics right and he has done just that in every movie ive seen from him. simply can not wait to watch the watchmen!
I like how we have a big fan of Watchmen making the movie, a guy who actually understands the graphic novels importance. This isn't just a quick buck on his part, this is the move he has probably always wanted to make, since creatively; how do you film The Watchmen? I kinda agree. I think Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" would be the hardest work of his, to adapt into a live action film. But the rest of his work is pretty easy, and you could cater them to people who have never read any of his work. Like with "Sin City." You don't have to read any of those books, in order to enjoy the film.
I can't really say that about Alan Moore's "Watchmen." The GN is a masterpiece, but I don't see how you could enjoy the film, without reading the GN.
Hopefully it's a hard R rating, and it stays true to the story. Zack Snyder seems a bit unsure of himself and the movie. Slightly worried. Simply the fact he called Watchmen a side project.
The problem is is that most of the focus now is on Movies and TV and not so much on the comics. But yeah it would be fun to hit up, I would just prefer one of the cons that still pertains to comics.
Uh...I haven't read the comic either but I saw the trailer and got interested, so I researched the comic (for various reasons, I can't obtain it -_-"). Nothing wrong with checking out something interesting or new, right? o_O
How come they didn't bring up the ending that Comedian's murder and everything else is a massive plot by Ozymandias to kill most of New York with a giant squid. He did so to stop the escalating Cold War by bringing east and west together against a "common enemy", which Ozy wants everyone to think is a hostile extra-terrestrial.. All the main characters find out about this and accept the need to keep it a secret, except Rorschach, so Dr Manhattan reluctantly kills him.

I personally think they did a shit job only because they took the original lines and scattered them everywhere whereas in the full motion comic ( episodes not a movie) WAS the comic, but done in such a " don't have to cheap out of the story because we only have an hour and a half to tell it" But still, did an awesome job on Dr. Manhattan considering it was live action ( even tho his voice is so wrong for the part...) :)

Aw, I like his logic - that he'd sooner have been responsible for it failing, than letting the project go to some other director who didn't have the same interest in the original book. I think his film was the most faithful theater-length version of Watchmen we were ever gonna get tbh.

well it is true that the movie does not exactly correlate to the book but if you look at it this way, When the movie Twilight came out not many people new about the book and due to the movie many fans were created and book sales grew tremendously, so in a way this movie can expose the material to new fans and expand the fan base

another thing about the actors, you complained it has Akerman in the female lead as young silk spectre and basically that is reason enough why the film is doomed.
to be honest, and this is just my opinion, I didn't think silk spectre II was as interesting a character as Rorschach, Dr.Manhattan or Ozymandias, who are promisingly casted (Jackie Earle Haley, B. Cudrup and Matthew Goode) to contradict your statement.

previously and at the same time u compliment V for Vendetta who was directed by McTeigue who hadn't done ANYTHING before besides being a 2nd unit director. V for Vendetta was great film imo but again Moore dissociated himself of it as he has w/ all the films that are based on his literature.

the action we see in the trailer is the EXACT action that happens in the graphic novel. trailers are made to attract people and (unfortunately) the easiest way is by showing an action-filled trailer. this than-again does not have to mean the trailer is bad or the film for that matter.

Like I have been saying leave zack alone! Yes his films (so far) have been visual but that doesn't mean that he can only do visual! He just has not really got the chance to make a drama! You know your argument would've made sense but he has the chance now to make a good drama film. And he is NOT DOING IT! Zack Snyder has ability no one is arguing that. Your judging a film by the trailer? Both trailers are made up of scenes exactly from the graphic novel and yes I am currently reading it. Go read Watchmen and look at the screen shots in the trailer. You will see that they are the same. Also the trailer does make it look like an action film but that is only to draw audiences in. Don't blame the director for how the trailer is edited. As I stated before everyone who has seen the 25 minute clip and a rough cut of the film has loved it!

i like that you have faith that it will be faithful. i love it too, but i'm not gonnna go into the film, trying to make sure it's word for word with the book. it's truly impossible to do that. im excited to see that characters alive and after it has been in your imagination for so long. everyone has there own picture of the characters voice and mannerisms.

Umm V for Vendetta was good for what it was. But not the actual Story. And just so you know Watchmen will not be anywhere near the quality of V for vendetta. If your expecting it to do so I suggest suicide now. V for vendetta had Hugo Weaving and a decent Script. Watchmen has solid snake writing the script and Malin Akerman as the female lead. That tells u the whole story. Sorry man.

altough it is true that snyder seems far under experienced to throw him this important of project, he did not write the screen play. the screen play is written by the guy who did x-men 1 and 2, which im not saying is a good thing or a bad thing, but at least prior knowledge to what works and what doesnt when converting the comic into live motion. Personally, I just dont see how a movie could possibly do justice to graphic novel, its so unlike anything Ive ever read. Fantastic

I agree with you. Zack Snyder and solid snake are just awful choices. In the end, they dont have enough experience. I mean, there are a million and one people who wouldve been better choices to make the movie, and im not so sure about the cast eiter, the guy who is playing rorshach, hes talented, but seems entirely wrong for the role. But im still hoping its good, i mean why not? Maybe itll just be an ok-good movie that is way different than the book. whatever we will see soon enough.

Look at the comic-con trailer you can see where this guy's brain is. The way that roarschach took that grappling hook and jumped up on the balcony is absolutely RIDICULOUS! He doesnt understand. All of these guys are just as normal as u and me w/ the exception of Dr Manhattan. So Watchmen should be even more real than the dark knight. Zack Snyder just doesnt understand. He is making the wrong kinds of movies. This film WILL thats right WILL be a disaster. I'm not putting any money into it.

Fair enough. I would even say this. Snyder has ability visualy. The problem is that he is making the wrong kinds of movies. He is more suited for a gears of war, mortal kombat, spawn type movies. I like how we have a big fan of Watchmen making the movie, a guy who actually understands the graphic novels importance. This isn't just a quick buck on his part, this is the move he has probably always wanted to make, since creatively; how do you film The Watchmen? I kinda agree. I think Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" would be the hardest work of his, to adapt into a live action film. But the rest of his work is pretty easy, and you could cater them to people who have never read any of his work. Like with "Sin City." You don't have to read any of those books, in order to enjoy the film.
I can't really say that about Alan Moore's "Watchmen." The GN is a masterpiece, but I don't see how you could enjoy the film, without reading the GN.

How come they didn't bring up the ending that Comedian's murder and everything else is a massive plot by Ozymandias to kill most of New York with a giant squid. He did so to stop the escalating Cold War by bringing east and west together against a "common enemy", which Ozy wants everyone to think is a hostile extra-terrestrial.. All the main characters find out about this and accept the need to keep it a secret, except Rorschach, so Dr Manhattan reluctantly kills him.
