Cynic's new EP might be a mix of old and new...We heard wheels within wheels during their tour at the house of blues chicago...great stuff! love his voice with out the vocoder.
possibly the ONLY Youtube video i have ever seen that didnt have people being stupid and rude at each other in the comments. says a lot about pauls fans doesnt it?
Absolutely beautiful/mesmerizing! Paul and Sean can do no wrong. They can play any style they want and come up with something brilliant. I'm glad musicians as talented as these guys are getting recognized and maybe getting a bit more money with this to fund future projects.
"Are you saying Cynic is immature? Just asking. But I do disagree, I believe Cynic fits him better. But that's just my opinion."
Not at all, and personally I strongly prefer Cynic to this.
I do think in the past 10-15 years he's grown up alot though, and I think it comes through in the music. It comes through in the solos he plays in the new Cynic songs also.
Can't say I'm a fan of Aeon Spoke, especially when you listen to the work these guys did with their other respective bands, but it really just goes to show how diverse musicians like Paul really are.
its really weird watching this mainly cuz masvidal and reinart played with Death and then they play this kind of music. its cool tho, it proves that they can play any type of music really. cool song.
Cynic are an amazing band. And i do think Cynic suits him better also. Theyre more progressive and boundry pushing, and he seems like that kind of character.
I remember Paul Masvidal, in the back of a rental car, propping up his pelvis, in order to fart. It was fuckin' hilarious. Ah I miss the good old days.
Good, but very weird. One, because I expected a lot more comments on this and two, because it's weird to listen to Aeon Spoke knowing that they're all members of Death and Cynic, two brutal death metal bands. But this is good, too.
this is pure genious.... they did their job right.
"The spiritual investigation in our work is not about preaching, as much as it is about healing oneself. Like everyone, we're just trying to get through life the best we know how. Music is a tool and a language. If people can relate to our songs, then perhaps we've done our job."
Beautiful song, it touched my heart, 3 years ago, I heard this song for the first time in the movie called " what the bleep do we know?" It melted my heart
Cynic is thee greatest band i have ever had the pleasure of meeting, seeing live, and listening to.The spiritual atmospheric scenery their music creates,i just recently learned of aeon spoke and portal, all equally entriguing.
I am too, but I respect Masvidal for doing this. I don't think Aeon Spoke is at all a bad band, and I don't feel he deserves any flack for this project.
"CYNIC was a band which, as many technical Death Metal-devotees like myself know, changed the face of an entire genre of music in the course of one album. Unfortunately this would be their only recorded album to ever be released, but the wake it left behind was immense and undeniable.
maybe some cynic fans don't get the change of style but sounds like masvidal and reinert's music went through a natural evolution of tempo/rhythm/volume! moving from Cynic to Portal and now Aeon Spoke. cynic and aeon spoke lyrics are mostly all about spiritual stuff (to me anyway), but just with different kinds of music behind it. hope that made sense.

Paul Masvidal's voice is so soothing.
I mellow out just hearing him.
Seeing him play with Cynic live yesterday was even more amazing.
Nobody crowd surfed, headbanged, or yelled. Everyone just kinda took in the music, and clapped after every song.
It was euphoric man.
Sheer brilliance.

Ive listened to cynic and they sound nothing alike...
FrznKaelps 3 years ago
Because Cynic's main guitarist/singer and drummer were in cynic and they are now in Aeon Spoke.
Paul Masvidal (Singer/guitarist)
Sean Reinert (drummer)
