  • Cynic's new EP might be a mix of old and new...We heard wheels within wheels during their tour at the house of blues chicago...great stuff! love his voice with out the vocoder.

  • Paul looks weird not playing a Steinberger.

  • Paul's so damn cute! hahahaha <3

    And this album is amazing!!

  • Seen them with Opeth in Milan.. Paul is the man, absolutely the man.. I loved his chill and peace.. i think he's a sort of Ethereal Creature : P

  • possibly the ONLY Youtube video i have ever seen that didnt have people being stupid and rude at each other in the comments. says a lot about pauls fans doesnt it?

the man is a genius, and you are all awesome. <3

  • their band Cynic's new CD Traced in Air is amazing...a must have CD!

  • yes it is.

  • Because of Paul, im proud that i'm Puerto Rican :)

  • Weird seeing Paul with a guitar with a headstock on...

  • And no vocoder.

  • Will i have the space for this,i will.------great song, the voice makes me cry

  • wow

  • Paul Masvidal's voice is so soothing.

I mellow out just hearing him.

Seeing him play with Cynic live yesterday was even more amazing.

Nobody crowd surfed, headbanged, or yelled. Everyone just kinda took in the music, and clapped after every song.

    It was euphoric man.

    Sheer brilliance.

  • lucky, i couldnt go see them and was really pissed off about it

  • That's the way it should be at a cynic show. =D

  • Beautiful song...Cynic and Aeon Spoke are so different but equally as great!

  • At least Paul uses a guitar WITH a head in this vidxD Absolutely brilliant, can't say it different!

  • Hail to Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal!!

  • Absolutely beautiful/mesmerizing! Paul and Sean can do no wrong. They can play any style they want and come up with something brilliant. I'm glad musicians as talented as these guys are getting recognized and maybe getting a bit more money with this to fund future projects.

  • yep almost hard to believe its the same guys on death - human lol.

  • paul masvidal is a god of progressive and melacholic rock!

  • this song is great. I wish it was easier to get ahold of their cd

  • reminds me a bit of porcupine tree. love masvidal! the new cynic album is so amazing!

  • Yes, the new Cynic album Traced in Air is great. It's like a mind trip into another realm. More amazing music by these guys.

  • I was thinking the same thing

  • I was thinking the same thing. Very trippy video too

  • Holy crap, I was thinking it sounds a bit more like Blackfield than Porcupine Tree, but roughly the same thing anyway.

  • both Steve Wilson anyway lol

  • love this song!! Its on What the Bleep...video - Great!!

  • I've discovered this band by the Smallville soundtrack and I really like them

  • its weird hearing paul without the vocoder

  • "Are you saying Cynic is immature? Just asking. But I do disagree, I believe Cynic fits him better. But that's just my opinion."

Not at all, and personally I strongly prefer Cynic to this.

I do think in the past 10-15 years he's grown up alot though, and I think it comes through in the music. It comes through in the solos he plays in the new Cynic songs also.

  • Can't say I'm a fan of Aeon Spoke, especially when you listen to the work these guys did with their other respective bands, but it really just goes to show how diverse musicians like Paul really are.

  • ohh what the fuck this is not lack of comprehension..............but sounds good

  • amazing!

  • its really weird watching this mainly cuz masvidal and reinart played with Death and then they play this kind of music. its cool tho, it proves that they can play any type of music really. cool song.

  • how come everyone compares cynic to aeon spoke?

Ive listened to cynic and they sound nothing alike...

  • Because Cynic's main guitarist/singer and drummer were in cynic and they are now in Aeon Spoke.

    Paul Masvidal (Singer/guitarist)

    Sean Reinert (drummer)

  • because Paul Masvidal (guitars and vocals) and Sean Reinert (drums) are also in Cynic.

  • najbolja!

  • Good stuff. Very mature.

It seems to fit Masvidal better. I'm glad they're playing music they enjoy and enjoying some popular acclaim.

  • Are you saying Cynic is immature? Just asking. But I do disagree, I believe Cynic fits him better. But that's just my opinion.

  • Cynic are an amazing band. And i do think Cynic suits him better also. Theyre more progressive and boundry pushing, and he seems like that kind of character.

  • "Paul Masvidal is Buddhist if I'm correct"

Hindu philosophy. He was a member of the Self Realization Fellowship under Paramahansa Yogananda. Jason Becker is also a member.

  • great

  • I remember Paul Masvidal, in the back of a rental car, propping up his pelvis, in order to fart. It was fuckin' hilarious. Ah I miss the good old days.

  • aeon spoke, portal and cynic

    a-ma-zing music for sure

  • Wow, Paul looks so much different with his hair cut and facial hair shaved. Well.. That IS Paul, right? o.O

  • couldnt find this album anywhere in indianapolis

  • Good, but very weird. One, because I expected a lot more comments on this and two, because it's weird to listen to Aeon Spoke knowing that they're all members of Death and Cynic, two brutal death metal bands. But this is good, too.

  • this is pure genious.... they did their job right.

"The spiritual investigation in our work is not about preaching, as much as it is about healing oneself. Like everyone, we're just trying to get through life the best we know how. Music is a tool and a language. If people can relate to our songs, then perhaps we've done our job."

  • who are you quoting?

  • He's quoting Paul Masvidal from the website bio.

  • Beautiful song, it touched my heart, 3 years ago, I heard this song for the first time in the movie called " what the bleep do we know?" It melted my heart

  • Did these guys do live shows and if so,why can't I find a single live video on youtube? Upload ppl...

  • Cynic is thee greatest band i have ever had the pleasure of meeting, seeing live, and listening to.The spiritual atmospheric scenery their music creates,i just recently learned of aeon spoke and portal, all equally entriguing.

  • I am too, but I respect Masvidal for doing this. I don't think Aeon Spoke is at all a bad band, and I don't feel he deserves any flack for this project.

  • I don't know if it's actually possible for Sean and Paul to make bad music...

  • yes they are this guys is incredible to hear a sound like this after they were in bands and proyects of death metal like Death, Cynic, Atheist, etc.

  • masvidal, reinert n evo r fucking perfect!!

    amazing harmony!

  • Amazing band!

  • beautifull i know paul from high school and they use to play all the time. we hanged out some times

  • Here's the quote Part I:

"CYNIC was a band which, as many technical Death Metal-devotees like myself know, changed the face of an entire genre of music in the course of one album. Unfortunately this would be their only recorded album to ever be released, but the wake it left behind was immense and undeniable.

  • maybe some cynic fans don't get the change of style but sounds like masvidal and reinert's music went through a natural evolution of tempo/rhythm/volume! moving from Cynic to Portal and now Aeon Spoke. cynic and aeon spoke lyrics are mostly all about spiritual stuff (to me anyway), but just with different kinds of music behind it. hope that made sense.

  • And the drummer is Sean Reinert. He cut his hair, too. He and Masvidal were also in the band Cynic.

  • yep its the same paul masvidal of death, but he cut his hair

  • A familiar beacon to us all. The loss and curse of reverence. Resolute and emblematic.

  • haunting,beatiful,genius....great band

  • is it just me, or is this song sort of anti-jesus?

  • Nope, just you.

  • i think it says emmanuel u got away

  • Paul Masvidal is Buddhist if I'm correct

  • Hindu if anything, he references Maya in his lyrics.

  • awesome! :D

i first heard this song on What the Bleep Do We Know?

and ever since then, i can't stop listening to it :D

thnx for uploading it on here!!
