The version without the SM getting ripped in half was a promotional trailer, so the violence was scaled back so younger viewers wouldnt see it. The trailer with the SM being ripped in half in the games actual intro sequence, and as the games rated with violence in mind, theres no problems having it in there.

Think about how difficult it would be, to try to fire your massive bolter at some Necron's that are clearly out of range, while ordering your team, keeping in mind mission objectives, etcetera.
They're called Space Marines for a reason. Their mentally, physically and genetically enhanced into the finest killing machines mankind can offer. A bolter is in no way heavy, and a space marine leader is more than capable of directing his forces with no room for doubt or fear. The Codex Astartes helps direct their actions as well.
The Marine probably doesn't shoot because he's giving orders, and assessing the situation. At any point in the video he doesn't really HAVE to shoot his weapon either - except when the Wraith comes up behind him - but his comrades took care of that.

It disables most units in the surrounding areas ability to fire their weapon, and mostly only sargeants are the ones that can fire. If you see 0:25 that green light is the skill that disables the marines ability to fire their weapon.... HAPPY NOW?!?!?
Sorry, but your wrong. Thats the resurrection skill which brings 'dead' necron forces back to life. You can see the dead necrons reforming inside the wave.
The reason the space marine doesn't shoot is because he never sees his killer; watch closely enough and you can clearly see the marine very clearly firing at a necron IN FRONT of him; the necron that kills him strikes from BEHIND.
Space marines may have many skills, but unfortunately seeing out of the back of their helmets isn't one of them. Outflanking your enemy is one of the oldest military tricks in the book; the space marines evidently weren't banking on 'corpses' coming back to life.

i gotta admit, the original DOW intro kicks ass and is epic, but i do enjoy watching this one too, you don't see space marines executing Necrons, and see another marine ripped into 2 pieces in....

To all those people who are asking, "Why doenst the space marine shoot!? WTF!?!" In the video you see that green beacon thing from 0:24, it prevents the space marines from firing their weapons to it, as far as i know, only the grey knights are immune to it. its happened many times in the game.

try using FRAPS, its capable of recording in 3D program images, including games. I found it good for recording game intros, although it will not work with all games, and unless you download illegally, the trial version only records 30 seconds each vid.
Oh, and this vid isnt the proper authentic Dark Crusade intro, its one that was on a demo disc from PC Gamer a month or two before its release, so its quite old now.

Either way, they're pretty nasty but if you have enough plasmarifles, they're pretty much fucked as it melts the shit out of them. Two Predator Tanks equipped with Twin-Lasers plus a Landraider and you should do fine with their vehicle units as well.

Actually, you're pretty right. The Necron are zombies. They just have metal shells, advanced technology and intelligence, an intelligent leader, and their souls jump from shell to shell as they die.

try using FRAPS, its capable of recording in 3D program images, including games. I found it good for recording game intros, although it will not work with all games, and unless you download illegally, the trial version only records 30 seconds each vid.
Oh, and this vid isnt the proper authentic Dark Crusade intro, its one that was on a demo disc from PC Gamer a month or two before its release, so its quite old now.

I still have no clue why those two SM were commiting suicide there. I mean, did they wanted to out run the Necrons, then TEAR the Monolith apart with their bare hands?
Either way, they're pretty nasty but if you have enough plasmarifles, they're pretty much fucked as it melts the shit out of them. Two Predator Tanks equipped with Twin-Lasers plus a Landraider and you should do fine with their vehicle units as well.

yea, but the space marines and the imperial guard have one thing all the other races dont have. The Will Power to keep fighting. Necrons are mindless creatures just doing what their told, Tyranids are just dropped of to wherever they are and just want to kill things, Chaos doesnt even care, all they want is destruction. and orks? orcs are pathetic(not in close combat though) and are probably just fighting so they could have some kind of beer. oh yea, and learn to SPELL.

But the thing is, Necrons never truly die. When killed they simply go back to their tomb worlds and become new again by a manufacturing process; and although some are animatrons, not all are, some still have personalities.
