Did anyone remember getting those Pepsi id cards? My little sister and I both got one. There was a credit card- sized ID with our picture and vital stats on it, along with a larger card that, I'm assuming, Mom was supposed to keep safe. Both were laminated, and I think both had our thumbprint on them (but I'm not completely sure). I think my Mom still has ours somewhere in her house.
It blows me away just how much personification is in those Cabbage Patch Kids commercials. Heck, even the parents get in on the action and travel globally. And every adult that comes in contact with those little dolls seems to go along with it...LOL.
Weird how Larry Hagman did not change AT ALL between I Dream of Jeannie and this episode of Dallas (15+ years) but changed HORRIBLY between said episode and a 1995 TV appearance I have taped from the Today Show. Must be all of the alcohol was preserving him, until his liver failed...
My favorite HB Logo. Who could ever forget that swirling star? I loved the music, too. I also love the McNugget Buddies. I liked them the best of all the McDonald Land characters, actually (bad puns are my life)
I remember me & my friends begging our parents to buy as many pound puppies as they would allow because of those commercials. We used to be all sad thinking that the puppies were really locked away somewhere. Those commercials did a good job on us kids...I even still have a few of my pound puppies now! lol.
@cybertronization I remember the HB "Swirling Star" logo since I was a kid, but it scared the heck out of me after watching the ending to many of the HB shows from the 80's. According to the byline, it was owned by Taft Entertainment, the company that made Ruby-Spears. Prior to that was Taft Broadcasting, the company that owns some of their TV station properties such as WTAF-TV in Philadelphia.
@HomeoftheGoodGuys Ruby-Spears was actually created in 1977 by former H-B employees Joe Ruby and Ken Spears and was a Filmways company (does "This has been a Filmways presentation" ring a bell?). It was purchased by Taft five years later.
OMG too funny! No, there is no logical correlation between kangaroos and milk but the 80's were so wacky I doubt anybody made note of that. I was around 9 or10 when that commercial aired and didn't even blink at it ...Oh btw I LOVED the Hanna- Barbera swirl ID thing idk why though he he
@MsFarzee The HB swirl doesn't bother me, but did you ever see the DIC thing? It didn't bother me, but I got in trouble because of it. My mother heard me say "suck a" right in time for the voice to say DIC! I got yelled at!
I don't remember Star Fairies cartoon. But I remember all the toy commercials!! We had the best toys and cartoons back in the 80's!! You always seem to make this child of the 70's/80's smile!! Once again, another great video! Thanks again!!!

I had forgotten that Pound Puppies were basically the dog version of the Cabbage Patch Kids, complete with adoption papers.
Let's go to Reno to see a basketball game, because there's no way we can get to Sacramento or Oakland from Fresno!
I have a friend who had preemie twins last year. It hasn't been quite as much fun as that commercial suggested.
I'm pretty sure cheap ID cards won't do much to help you if you get kidnapped.
Why was the fact that the jewelry was also a toy such a secret?

RIP Gary Coleman. Btw: the old woman in the rainbow Brits commercials had a strange look on her face that read, "am I on acid?"

@lycanthrope1980 It takes me back also. It appeared on every H-B cartoon between 1979 and 1986.

The milk commercial was part of the - Milk makes strong bones campaign, thus alot of weird associations with Kangaroo's and so on.
