Th funniest part about this situation is that the owner was a total asshole that few people liked. He successfully had a local ordinance turned over by the superior court so he could continue to own these animals. I wonder where his lawyer is today? It's called, a large secure outdoor enclosure. There is a way to do it right, and if tigers can be in zoos they can be kept in the proper enclosure by a responsible owner, too. Captivity of animals keeps their species alive.And they like it, they don't have to hunt for food! As long as they have room to move around, and love, and enough nutrition, they're ok.

not all zoos can keep tigers correctly and no private home can come anywhere near the size needed by these animals. I have seen many, many private encousures and not a single one was good enough.

Also it does not keep the species alive as privately owned tigers are not allowed to be a part of the international breeding program because of doubts of their genetic history

and they need to hunt for mental stimulation and fitness - its what they were made for. .

I would say this is more of a case of lack of socilization. People are more likely to be killed in a car accident an d bit by a domestic dog then by exotic animals and pets. A good relationship with an animal rendurs it more predictable. Not a 100% but at least you will be able to know its mood more easily Which zoos epicly fail on.
