yes I used a combination of a few volumetric lights. You can choose the inner width to seperate the colors.
I wanted the model to follow a spline, so if it would turn left, then the jets would blast accordingly. What I did is to put a null in front of the model that also followed the spline, and by having 2 points of reference, I was then able to make an Xpresso command to control the intensity of the lights.
This model can attach to any spline and give correct results. :)
you create jet flame with light spot parrallele.... animate noise wind and turbulence...easy!
