Expressionist acting reached it's final evolution in the late 1920's. Actors learned how to SLOW DOWN & SPEED UP time to the emotional rhythms intended. This was the true reason why they didn't go on to "talkies". Dancers like Louise Brooks had fine voices (she later recorded) but needed to pantomine freely - and all action was stopped in the early "talkies", due to fixed mics. Classic Expressionism was highly disciplined - not like Gothic at all, which is self-indulgant!

this is pretty neat. i like it. i really dig the german expressionism style. i enjoyed it in citizen kane as well. im doing a paper on how german expressionism started the gothic sub culture. if i need more information would you mind getting a hold of me?

lenka kraaasne...ten nazov, ze robotnik 11811 je uplne vystizny! vyber hercov je genialny, cisto expresionisticke typy...muzika dovidenia, strih bez chybicky a na to ze si to robila s 1 kamerou takmer k neuvereniu :)
