The GTA's of that era looked nice, but were not as quick as the 350 IROC's OR Mustang GT 5.0's. I had an '86 GT, and never lost to any GTA, 305 or 350. I did lose to a 350 IROC, before making mods. Then even stock 'Vettes and GN's were toast... GTA's were sweet lookers, to be certain and the Turbo 3.8 was quick.
hey could you tell me what color this is called. i just bought this car and everone askes me what color is it so i say redish but i know im wrong. please message back
Just the usual bolt-ons.... 3pc underdrive pullies, full exhaust incl headers, MSD ignition/coil, 24lbs injectors, ported intake, Airfoil, ADS chip, MAF screen removal, cold air intake. Trans-go Shift kit with Corvette servo.
Unfortunately when I tore it down I realized that it had the 305 peanut cam in it (179/194' Duration -.350/.384" lift), which explained the low peak Hp RPM (3700), But on the bright side it's .040" overbore which makes it a 357 cubic inch small block. Great for the AFR/HSR
It didn't have the stock 350 89 GTA cam in it in the first place..!!! (GRrrr) The motor was replaced by the dealership just after I bought the car and the factory replacement engine cam with a puny 305 cam. 179/194 duration with .350/,384" lift. Which is so completely shitty!!!!
So now I've gone with a Lingenfelter Cam which has a duration of 211/219 and .536/.560" lift with 1.6 RR breathing through a Holley Stealth Ram and 180 Eliminator Air Flow Research heads..... Should wake things up!!!
I went through the same thing with my reman motor. They said it was a direct replacement, but it was really a L05 out of a caprice. Wrong heads/cam, didn't match at all. Never ran right.
I chose to redo it later with L98 heads I got for free and a LPE 211/219 cam. I was happy with it, though I never tuned the ECM.
Happier now with my LT1 swap. Runs stronger, REVS forever.
I have the SAME CAR with a 383 tuned port injector :D

At the time of this dyno run the car had a ADS Superchip in it...
