Actually this is not a Lionel Richie song, this is actually a COMMODORES song. It was in the soundtrack of one of the best teen movies of all time 'The Last American Virgin'.
They don't make love songs like that anymore. I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 70's and 80's. Romantics songs like that are so few and far between. Some love songs now are great but rarely do they have beautiful and meaningful words like these anymore. Lionel is truly one of the great ones!

when i hear this its like the commodores are not even in the studio its like he cut this by himself i also see this was another one of those pop/country feel songs that at the time The pointer sisters capilized of this style and EVERYBODY in the music industry tried to copy cat from them i kinda feel now what the commodores was talking about but at the same time if they would have wrote better songs or WROTE PERIOD then they would have nothing to cry about but they will be on tour this year

This song reminds me of the roller skating parties that my grade school would sponsor. Holding hands with a girl for the first time throughout the entire song. At the end I was in love.

This song makes me think of the movie The Last American Virgin. Gary is crying driving home after getting destroyed by the whore new girl. Great movie.
