rules are there to keep some kind of order in the world. If there weren't rules, there would be complete anarchy. What a mess would that be with all the lunes out there. Not everyone was born with common sense. just a handful in comparison to the rest of the world.

@TYHYCHY That, among other meanings. It literally says human kind is like gods. It is allegory, of course. The old Hebrew religion, from which christianity evolved eventually, is much more interesting as it more close to earth and humans are more equal to gods. There is many way you can interpret this verse, one of is that with knowledge, humanity can achieve godhood. If the ancient only knew what we are capable today, and what we will be capable in 1000 years.
