I guess cheating is a sport in itself - But it's best to all ways label something "non-legit" - of course who is stupid enough to click on "Chamber 16 - 14 seconds" and think it's a legit run anyway

Portal Bumping exploits a flaw in game mechanics. In as far as creating dynamic wormholes in the space-time continuum can be considered "realistic", Portal Bumping is unrealistic and non-canon and should be considered a cheat.

@Ayelis If you have tried to do a speed run, the only way to do it is to glitch the game. Portal bumping isn't a mod or any downloaded cheat, it is something that just hasn't been patched by valve. In all honesty, the glitches and cheap ways in portal require more skill than the actual test chambers themselves.

@TheR1otAct Since when did "Exploiting Glitches" become common fare for "Legitimate Speed Runs"? If I want to know how long it would take a person to "beat Portal", I would expect the speedrun to be completed WITHOUT CHEATING, where cheating is defined as "Creating a portal in a room within which you had no actual line-of-sight". Can you tell me, so I can include the information in my GameFAQ, how long it takes to beat Portal Legitimately? Or has nobody even tried?

@Ayelis "Speedruns" always utilize glitches...they don't require code changing or noclipping, they just play through with them. That's just the way speedruns are - go watch others and see what I mean.

@Ayelis To answer your question, there are legitimate speed runs out there, but they aren't as exciting or as fun to do. If you want to be "legit", you can, but it isn't nearly as fast, difficult, or fun.

@mrfelipeist Nope. If you really want to learn about Portal glitches, look up the speed run of the guy doing the ENTIRE GAME in 10 minutes. He has other videos explaining EVERY glitch in Portal, most of which I have tried myself. They still work.

@nobody24601 I did some google and I found out some interesting stuff about those glitches. Some guy said that glitches like this are easter eggs on the game, and the programmers usually like to leave them like that unless it really screws up the game (which they don't). I think they don't want to fix it. However, they've been improved, IMO. It's harder to do the portal bumping thing. The videos I see aim much easily, and for me no matter how much I aim at the edge it rarely works.
