  • wow what amazing music it makes you feel like you belong in the era

  • 16 and in love with this song and "Up on the roof"...

  • we need to bring this kinda music back

  • ( Continued ) We are better than that we are worthy of so much more than the crap that's out there today. Hip hop/Rap make me physically ill and I don't mean that as a figure of speech it literally makes me queasy . It's like we went from Class to Trash . And I was born in 77

  • ( Continued ) I wish Hip hop would just go away it makes the Black community look stupid and this is where all the freaking negative black stereotypes are coming from and the music and artist NOW is what little Black boys and girls are aspiring to be like . It's freaking sick and it's a damn disgrace to our race, when are Black people going to wake the hell up ?

  • ( Continued ) The state of Black music now is pathetic and not worthy of any kind of respect whatsoever and whats even more messed up is the black people out there supporting the kind of crap thats out there now as if it's the kind of music to take pride in .

  • OMG WTF happened to Black music ? Damn . How do you go from something like this to " Bitch lick my sweaty balls " and " Hoe back that ass up" or " That's just my baby daddy " and " nigga nigga nigga " Bitch hoe motherfucka " ? How does anyone in their right mind want to listen to the crap that's out NOW rather than this ?

  • @BiracialGirl1977 not just black music that is affected - society as a whole has less principles

  • 20 years old and love this generation of music, Cracks me up when people think usher is the greatest artist.

  • There goes my baby. There she goes (*_*)

  • he kissed her long and good... wendy peffercorn

  • This is MUSIC.

  • sandlot!

  • Sandlot!

  • wendy pefercorn <3

  • the new stuff is all commercialized and about crazy shit the old stuff is all about getting laid in the sexiest way possible and falling in love censorship style mabe we need that with all the modern negroes talkin about money bitches and killin man all the negroes need to regress to the blues and to the way it was they are no better off in todays world..... we neeed another martin luther obama is a joke/....

  • Still a classic. Need to find my Drifters Greatest Hits 8-Track.

  • the origional s were the best, beat that hiphop

  • i was born in 96, and i love this kind of music.

  • You were not born in the wrong era, it is just because the world is declining fast. I believe that if you dig deep you can still find some gem today. The commercial world has driven things to mediocre.

  • How come no one makes these anymore?

  • "if this song works its golden"

  • Thumbs up if Sandlot brought you here

  • @wholewheat843 YESSS (:

  • We walked down the street in Jersey singing these songs on a daily laughing and playing in playgrounds, jumping doubledutch and playin hopscotch..and loving it all.

  • urgh... u hate when the two top comments are the same...

  • I LOVE THIS SONG FROM I WAS A KID

  • Todays "music" is nothing compared to the oldies. I wish i was born in that era:/

  • I CANT TAKE THIS NO MORE.... MOVE!

  • Tenderness, Tenderness, Tenderness, Remember the tender touch of my 1st. love

  • Hirsch H.S. Chicago1958. TOP JAM OF THE YEAR!

  • THE SANDLOT!!

  • Was just 9 or 10 when this was released, loved it then, love it more now.

  • Well I'm 28 and I wasn't born in the wrong era I just like good music.

  • I just can't get into today's music. I stay on Youtube . This is real music.

  • omg i love these old songs im only nineteen and these oldies touch my heart and such a special way

  • !!!!!!!NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why was i born in the nineties and not in the time period of the "oldies". thats the best kind of music

  • @BRYCENESS100 same here, born into the 90s..which had its good music, but the 50s and 60s is the golden era..there's no touchin the music..great era in music..

  • its called oldies because to many youngings my age and older n younger cant comprehend the good music ... the finer taste in music :) ... and incase anyone asks ... 28

  • haha oh The Sandlot!

  • The first R&B song to use strings. The bridge has an exotic world beat rhythm along with the wonderful syncopated strings.

  • I think I was born in the wrong era...this is what I consider "ultimate sexy"...If a guy were to sing this or dedicate this to me...I think I would loose all morals. I wouldn't with songs that are out now, like, "Girl you know I wanna hit that".

  • wow this song,,, the thought,,,, i am here in los angeles city college,, enjoying a time time when womem where good and wore long dresses,, miss those days i am 75

  • Yo cresi en Mexico y los escuche en la radio y me gustaba esta musicaen los 70's. then I came back to the USof A mid 80's and in Chicago I only could find one station playing this lovley music. Gracias, Thank you

  • reminds me of the sandlot

  • Thanks for posting and sharing this classic music!!!!!!

  • This song literally gives me the chills:)...like I always say...I was definitely born in the wrong era

  • @TheRachel586

Yup, if you are under 40 you certainly were! But you have GREAT taste, sister!

  • @TheRachel586 I feel the same way too sometimes, but I don't think that if I had lived in the 60s this kind of music would have had the same magic for me as it has in 2011 :)

  • @TheRachel586 i know what you mean lol i rather listen to all these old song then most of sll the new music out now

  • Damnn, I wish I was born in their time !

  • One of my top five. Still fresh after all these many years

  • Pure love!!

  • Flipped! haha

  • We were banned from the pool forever that day...

  • This version of this song is immortal: ROCK AND ROLL AND SOUL ARE HERE TO STAY!

  • To Madmonkey 4848-Glad you appreciate romantic music with lyrics you can understand and that everyone could appreciate. Nowadays music has descended

to Lo Rent types and wanna be Gangstas. We used to be a nation of winners.

Now too many of our youth identify with ghetto losers.

I was born in a ghetto and got out. Hey mjrules 9712- get a dictionary and stop dragging your knuckles - your cave is getting crowded.

  • @mjrules9712 can u say no fucking shit

  • way better than fucken usher

  • ROCK AND ROLL AND SOUL ARE HERE TO STAY! simon4186

  • Can someone post "Mexican Divorce"

  • Heard Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller talk about how they produced this great hit (like so many others they did!!). The talked about why they included violins, tympani, etc. Mentioned the classic composer Borodin...no wonder they was an endless supply of never-to-be forgotten songs from this era. Just imagine: people with REAL TALENT. Not the Ludacris's of the world "singing" "Move, bitch, get outta they way" (repeating it c. 30 x's!!) or "I got hoes in different area codes". Disgusting

  • i am going to see the drifters tommorow night at the new theatre oxford last time i went to see them was 10+ years ago there are my grandads favourite so im going with him like last time

  • High School B'ham Ala in the 60s. Heard it on the radio every fifteen minutes,,

    WOW, the memories, Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @madmonkey4848 Me toooooooo so much ....

  • @thetwilightgymnast these types of songs make me feel like i was born in the wrong era

  • @madmonkey4848 IF, you missed out on these types of songs, this music, you were indeed, born in the wrong era. It was a fantastic era, one to be truly blessed that you raised in. I know, because I was.

  • had the pleasure of meeting Pig Pen last week of the drifters.

  • for brenda>>>whereever you are

  • This song made it to #2 in the summer of 1959 (#1 on the R&B charts). I think 1959 is still my favorite year for great music, which is kind of sad considering it was 52 years ago. Should have been a lot of other years in all that time that could have beat it.....but as far as I'm concerned it didn't happen !

  • one word:genius

  • There's a great cover of this by The Walkmen

  • this reminds me of all this feelgood feelings...

    it makes me happy

  • I posted my version of 'some kind of wonderful' would love comments from Drifters lovers - Good or Bad

  • This music grew up around Myrtle Beach, SC. Every summer this kind of "beach music" is played on many stations far and wide in the S.E. It has become too commercialized and people outside this area don't connect with this kind of "beach music."

  • Great song!! However the picture posted of the group has the wrong members in it during this song. This song was sung by Ben E. King who left and then was replaced by the singer seen in that picture...haha I know nobody cares but just wanted to make that comment.

  • love it. Wonderful.

  • How many other Rock & Roll songs have a tympani in the background keeping the beat?

  • Not many... =P

  • shit himself- aaaahhhh great song mates :D

  • nice song for a lady

  • Me too Yeah thanks for posting!

  • Most underated rock song in history.

  • 1959. High school. Loved the Drifters.

  • Would be good for that movie the notebook

  • why cant people make good music like this anymore?

  • oh they can, you might just not be lookin' in the right places.

  • @sumyunguy420 there is a lack of talent combined with an absence of musical taste.

  • I remember Oct 1960, basic training at Ft Hood, TX a group of recruits sang this song in the barracks open bay...nice.

  • hey this was on sandlot and the lead singer also sings stand by me

  • What i didnt know ben e kins what the lad singer of "the drifters"

    then he went solo?

  • That would be Ben E. King , the Lead Singer of the Drifters, NOT ben e kins the lad singer??? Somebody needs to learn how to spell properly !!!!

  • love it, haven heard the Ben e kings' version,

but LOve this one, this is the one ive got in my collection.
