ok so instead of a switchfoot concert my parents made me go to a Michael W. Smith concert. I was SOOO disappointed. It was a small group thing so like 15 people went. two of my 3 of my friends fell asleep and I was hellbent on having a bad time. But after 30 minutes i was really getting into it and having a great time. And after it ended all my friends were like "That was torture. I hate old-people music." And I was ya. That being said, the big bang is a theory which will be changed and improved upon as understanding gets better. religion on the the other hand is doctrine, and regardless of increased understanding, it refuses to change - even to fit with common sense.

For instance, the idea of Mary being a virgin - conflicts with anyone's common sense, doesn't it? Because I have faith in an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God who is sovereign over everything! He is not playing games with me, he is simply waiting until I'm ready to accept his direction in his life. As far as being a sheep, I LOVE being God's sheep, because he's THE shepherd and I can always trust him to do what's best for me in the long run.

Being a member of a religion does not insulate one from criticism and inquiry. If one holds beliefs in imaginary beings and fanciful fairytales, one is subject to extreem critique. Don't step into the ring of debate if you can't provide a foundation for you ideas. Religions are not based in ideas but "faith," so intrinsicly you've lost before you've even begun. Really no different than attempting to argue that Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs are real.

Actually opening your eyes and breathing is biology. That biology continues until other biological factors result in your death. People who don't believe in god don't claim to have all the answers. They believe that there are mysteries of life. They just don't claim that an imaginary god is responsible for it. Religions must claim to "know it all" to maintain their power. We can easily say, "I don't know," and be comfortable with that. Gods don't exist. We need to have faith in ourselves

maybe its ur lack of history so let me shed some light on that. I am christian and a recent Catholic convert coming from the Baptist/Church of God/AME family background and one of the reasons why science became reinvigorated after the middle ages was mainly due to the church. having a love of Science doesnt undo Christianity it only strengthens it. Alot of the Science Laws come from Cathloic scientists. I am a chemistry major and i marvel at how far we have come to understand the works of God.

neither were gays just put in american concentration camps during WWII. gays have NEVER been told by the government that they were second class citizens and that they couldnt vote. I am a firm believer of Equality. there should be a law out there for same-sex people that stands just as tall as marriage in the eyes of the Law. but this isn't an equal rights issue. If and only if the definition of marriage said something the wouldn't exclude these people lets say for example if it said "a union between two lovers" then an Equal Rights argument is warranted and then u could compare interracial marriage to that. but in no way is Marriage a hindrance on Equal Rights!
