  • I got the SNES version of Off-road but it is totally different from the arcade version and nes version. Well not really, but I think by then they had lost the liscensing of Ivan Stewart because it's just called super off-road and the shop where you get your upgrades does not appear and the screen where it shows the winner and plays the short intro of the star spangeled banner when you win first place, just plays a short funk song instead.

  • Do you have the actual arcade game or is this an emulator?

  • They have this fucking game where I work. I get so tired of hearing the crap.

  • Omg, i used to play this...

  • Does anyone remember a similar game, with very similar track layout, handling etc., but was set in the future and you could shoot other cars? Think it was called something "Badlands"?

  • @jafwilding Rock and roll racing, maybe?

  • LOVED this game!..used to play it in Claude's casino in Salthill,Galway in the west of Ireland......those were the days....pity it's not in the Nintendo Wii shop....yet!!

  • this sounds like it uses the spc 700 chip (of snes fame) for the music.

  • FAAAAAAARRRKKK i remember this

  • I loved this game, you play it very well.

  • OH man, i just happened to think about finding this and I just wanna listen to the music. HAH! THE MONEY i sunk into this game at the movie theater was just .. well, ya know. I would love to play this game again without the quarter part. Maybe one day. Thanks for posting.

  • Ah, I had the DOS version many years ago on a 386 system. Fun stuff.

  • The only thing I remember about this game was how awkward it was to control a car from a top-down perspective with a steering wheel.

  • the main theme seems to be ripped from Spirit of the radio by Rush

  • I've been thinking about buying this arcade game. Does the game have an ending or can you keep going?

  • I use to play this all the time as a kid in the local bowlin ally. My dad would tell me and my brother to milk the money in the machines and we thought that meant spend the cash as fast as we could hahaah!! Great memorys thanks for postin this.

  • i would destroy anyone in this game.i was and still am the best

  • Did anyone else ever just spin the steering wheel real fast in one direction, let go, and then grab it again to stop it?

Real fun way to handle the U-turns that way in this game.

  • definitely my favorite race game of all time. I wish i had the original arcade machine for this (along with a ms.pacman/galaga table machine).

  • Okay, so I gotta ask: did anyone, then OR now, know just who the hell Ivan "Ironman" Stewart is/was? I mean, sure, nowadays I'm sure you can do a quick and easy Google search, but back then, did anyone know who he was?

  • Duuuuuuude.. We always go to the nickel arcade and play this game! Since tokens are only a nickle, you can get like 50 of them, put them in this one game, max out on cash, and buy maximum boosters. Then, when you press the booster button over and over again, you fly across the tracks like a maniac! Good times.....

  • this Game I loved alot the snes and sega version of this game seems unfair fact the silver truck seems to go to fast and the CPU trucks get like 30 20 40 nitros and you hardly have enough money to stock up on nitros

  • I'm sorry but I just fucking love this game.

It's simple yeah but one of the best racing game's I've played in my entire life.

  • I remember I wasted so much money on this game in the arcade when I was little. God I feel so old right now.

  • can someone tell me if this game erer ends or just keeps ok looping around and around?

  • I remember when I first played this game, it was at a camping in Ocean City NJ. Such memories,

  • the graphics are better on the arcade version than the nes version

  • This was my favourite game ever!.

  • Omg, good times. I loved this game when I was a kid. I was decent at it. lol. I wish they'd make a modern day version of this game with updated graphics. That would be sick. lol.

  • I spent alot of quarters playing this game as a kid! Best arcade game ever!

  • This is the arcade game, above all others, that i can truthfully claim to be the master of. I don't know what it is about it, but i was just dominant. 1 quarter and i could play all day. I picked the game up on my PC and just solidified my skills. My buddy rented it on the genesis and called me over, and i practically made him cry with how dominant i was. Years later i ran into the arcade machine in Pennsylvania, and i actually caused the thing to crash. Glorious times.

  • HAHAHAHAHA I've never seen anything more hillarious xD

  • were can o donwload this glorious game!!..??? plz!! i get nostalgic just watching this game!

  • I used to own this machine with the track pack expansion. In the menu you could turn on dresses or bikinis.

  • So I figured Deluxe Edition's "dresses" were some modifications they did to the Game's graphics roms back in 2005 for "arcade treasures 3," and not an emulation of some rare "censored version" of Off Road. I am pretty sure the dip switches are all emulated in mame and none of them let you change the attired of the models.

  • Okay I think I see what happened. Midway released "Midway Arcade Treasures 2" which was rated "M" for Mature (had several gory games like Mortal Kombat 2 & 3 on it). But it released a second series on consoles called "Midway Arcade Treasures 3" which was rated "E for everyone." They must have censored Offroad there to maintain that "E" rating. When the two sets were combined for the PC (Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition) they maintained the censorship. It was laziness, because DE was "M"

  • this game was crack for me when i was a kid. great upload!

  • @padre1917 exactly. I would pump soooooo many quarters into that thing. I love whipping the steering wheel around since it was 360.

  • I always loved the music in Big Dukes.

The music in Big Dukes reminds me of Dukes Of Hazzard.

Plus with the big jump smack dab in the middle of Big Dukes, it's like Bo and Luke going over a pond in the General Lee.

  • What would you rate this game out of 5?? Please tell me soon. Thanks

  • Good to know! I'll have to check those options out next time I play!

  • the arcade game had steering wheels you could spin 360 degrees. I haven't yet seen a home steering wheel that will do that, so it's always a bit imperfect playing it at home... pity. it's fun!

And the sling bikinis were turned into cocktail dresses in Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition. The Genesis version's outfits were even smaller than these here.

  • Yeah, if I recall, there was a dipswitch option in the arcade version where among difficulty (sadly, this is on easiest and it's still impossible) and cost to play, yo ucould change between bikinis and dresses. I didn't realize you could change until after this video, but oh well...

  • So the dresses ARE arcade accurate? I presumed they were edited into the NES and MAT:DE versions to keep it away from some kind of adult warning label. I only ever saw the bikinis in the arcade. IF there's a dip setting, I would think it would be in mame, since they emulate the dip switches (and as far as I can tell that game is perfectly emulated in Mame).

  • Yeah, I have an ancient version of mame (0.62). I know it's up to 1.00's now, but I updated and it wouldn't run some games, so I kept the old version cause it still works for me.

This game used to be at my nearby skating rink and the girls were in bikinis. That was a long time ago. Guess for home consoles they decided to go for the dresses. Then again, I've played several home ports and none were as fun as the arcade version (not cause of the bikini babes).

  • And also, in the dipswitch options, you could change the eight countries you can base your profile on. Like you can have a driver from Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe or something and it'll play that national anthem when you win, lol.

  • I remember the one at the Disneyland arcade having dresses. Even as a kid, I could see why they'd change it, even if it seemed kind of weird.

  • @XSC3 the bikinis in Midway Arcade Treasures 3 are switchable. thing is that the ladies wear decent clothing by default (a.k.a. shirts and shorts), but on the options, you can switch it to their bikinis

  • oh how much money did I spent on this amazing game. And how I used to hate when I activate the nitro in the wrong direction, just à few meters from the finish line!

  • I totally played this game in the arcade too ... forever.. i know all the tracks

  • those girls at the beginning are so fucking hot! they always give me boaners

  • i fucking loved that game :D

i think i played that about 8-10 years ago

  • can't belive this is 20yo now!

  • PG-13???

  • Cuz of the babes in swim suits. Very naughty stuff.

  • lol

  • I've dumped so much money into that game... I love Super Off Road

  • Same here, great game!

  • After you win a race, Ivan will try to lap the ENTIRE field in the next race, which is embarrassing!

  • Ivan Ironman Stewart cheats a lot, especially when you win several times in a row. Worst part of the game.

  • that was the concept behind Super Off-Road's dynamic play feature. after 2 or 3 won races, the game "makes" ivan win even if it means using sneaky methods.
