  • Wow, that is super awesome. What is this music called?

  • @Jarfullofjellybeans8 fnugg. by oystein baadsvik.

  • nossa orivel bosta...

    credo

  • I bet your neighbors hate you.

  • @beasttubaplayer

    OH SNAP!

  • Fnugg!!!!

  • nice multiphonics

  • I'm selling a Denis Wick tuba 1XL for $77 or less in Singapore, anyone interested?

  • nice work mate. keep practicing and youll be a star if you stick to your dreams and set your heart on what you want in life, you shud try smoking meth its so fun!!!

  • It's really hard to do that and control it. Not the most appealing solo, but pretty cool, I guess.

  • Are you taking the piss?

  • TUBA AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!

  • it sounds like a car :)

  • @TaUxSemtex That's true LOL

  • u know you shouldnt realy leave the tuba resting on the bell cause the bell gets messed up and it makes a horrible sound just sayin

  • @habbosuks439 with a short bell tuba like this as long as you set it on the bell flat its not harmed

  • that was very very good

  • how do u do the multi-phonics that shits sick

  • ............

  • You could totally play this for some creepy movie. Maybe for the next latest Leprechaun movie lol.

  • wow you have some amazing skills

  • awesome multiphonics

  • how is dat music?

  • I want this music! i can totally do this!

  • he is doing Tuvan Throat Singing while playing thru the tuba...amazing for the tone and not so much for the melody lines...:-)))

  • Decent performance. I play the trombone, baritone, and of course the tuba. TIP: Work on your tone quality, and make sure you are tonging your notes.

  • Amazing performance. I'm a tuba player and i know how difficult something llike this is. I'm nowhere near good enough to play this piece so i'll give you as much credit as i can!

  • What song

  • @101TUBAMAN its called fnugg by oystein baadsvick

  • Multi harmonics are so hard! But awesome

  • @ChadA23 It appears to me that he's just humming while playing...

  • Yeah easier said than done. You are playing one note, and humming another at the same time. Tendency is to drop the note you are playing when you start humming till you get used to it. And to tune the two notes together is very difficult.

  • No, he's not, because that's impossible. He's literally singing while playing, it's just like playing a didgeridoo on the tuba :]

  • THE BEST I HEARD BUT ALRIGHT

  • ой!!!! как вемп рычит. прям из преисподней!!!!!!!!! жуть! ага вот вам: "Гриыыыыыгиыыыыыы! ужас!!!

  • Sô + Baadisvik!!!

  • its suppose to sound tht way its the song

  • no bad

  • Don't listen to what they all are saying I think you did excellent. I see potential in you my friend!

  • not bad my friend

  • Multiphonics,,,song know as Fnugg (:

  • o i saww that it was awsome

  • So I was right then.....

    hahahahahaha

  • noch schlechter kann man ja nich spielen!

  • eu toco bem melhor q ele

  • Tune the fifths please.

  • Very good. You win the award for most pretentious statement to date.. I'm a professional tuba player and I find that we're focusing too much on the mechanics and not enough of the music. If I want to hear a perfect performance, I'll listen to my computer play it. Get over yourself.

  • If you were a professional tuba player you wouldn't be criticizing someone who is only trying to guide someone else in playing. Did I say the fifths suck? no I asked that he tunes them. The performance is solid except for the 5ths. I don't believe you're a professional. One would never stoop so low.

  • You didn't comment on the performance at all. Which is why I said it was the most pretentious statement to date. There were so many things this person did right and you mentioned none of them. I am surrounded by moronic colleagues who can't enjoy music anymore because all they do is criticize performances with inane comments like this. Why can't people point out the good things in a performance.

  • Because this video is on youtube. If I want to enjoy a performance I will listen to baadsvik play it. This is someone trying to interpret baadsvik. And Baadsvik's fifths are tuned. Again I'll say it. The comment was not meant as a negative, but rather a tip toward improving the performance of this piece. The sooner you realize this and get your nose out of the clouds thinking you are perfect, the sooner you will see what I mean.

  • OK, well, I don't know how you believe I think I'm perfect by defending his performance, but I'll leave it there. All I want is for you to maybe include some positive comments too. If Mr. Baadsvik had an off day and some of his fifths were off, would you not clap and just tell him to tune them? No. Just try including both positive comments and suggestions to improve. That's all

  • Are you joking? All of your favorites are gross infections. Nobody knows who you are, you aren't that famous. Dropping your name like you are some badass, who is widely known, is pretty pretentious. I also forgot that you speak for all tuba players. I work with Pat Sheridan and Sam Pelifian at Arizona State University, and they dont seem to believe that performance is neglected.

  • Nonetheless, you have your opinion, I have mine, and that's why this type of forum exists. If you feel leaving only negative opinions for a developing tuba player is productive, go for it. Criticize away!!! Tell everybody what they do wrong and, for gods sake, don't tell them anything they did right. That's "good" pedagogy.

  • Exactly, you have your own opinion. So don't try to speak for all tuba players. I have not left a single comment about the performance, so I have no idea why you reply by rambling about how I think criticism is productive to a player, I don't. Constructive criticism is important. Obviously, constructive criticism as well as complements and encouragement to improve, is good pedagogy. I just don't see where you get off, rambling while I have not made a singles negative comment about this video.

  • dragons

  • Nice work. That solo is a bear!

  • OYE LOCO ERES MUY UENO

  • its a bad idea to set the tuba on it's bell, that can scratch it up, and it can tip and get banged up, which can distort the tone

  • nice growling.

  • Comment removed

  • well can you play better than him

  • Comment removed

  • I'd like to see you play better than Baadsvik. Post a video up and lets see.

  • So, if you say that you can play the tuba better than him, yet you think tubas are for fags, then you must be calling yourself a fag. Right. You're just jealous because you wish you were as good as him.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, and I've never met Baadsvik before? I've played for him at a masterclass in Fayetteville, Arkansas buddy, and I am also a junior in college pursuing a music education degree. Get your facts straight.

  • Oh, I didn't know you were a tuba player belugafishgod!

  • not anyone can play tuba well you jackass

  • very nice

  • Très Sympa! hi! Venez voir mes vidéos :-))

  • Nice Fnugg.

  • Hirsbrunner?

  • Comment removed

  • 1. Age is irrelevant. So cram it.

    And 2. Thats the piece.

  • lol. It only sounds like it sucked because that is how the music is written. If you're so good, don't be a pussy and post a video.

  • I like how that kid's profile says he's 18

  • dont you mean fnugg by baadsvik

  • is this called fugue by a norweigan composer?

  • lol

nice attempt at Fnugg it's hard. I can multihonic but i sing a bit too high to play this Fnugg Which is very depressing.

  • this sounds like guns and roses had a head on collision with a marching band

  • sounds like a didjeridoo

  • I love that sound!!!TUBA POWER!!!

  • Is this Fnugg?

  • Yes

  • how is that not a tuba?

i have a cerveney rotary valve that looks a lot like it...

maybe mine is a just very large BBb euphonium...

  • It looks like a St. Petersburg tuba

  • MULTIPHONICS FTW!!

  • if ur a tuba player zad then u would know that this is a tuba that this guy is playing. It's a typical rotary valved tuba.

the way he is creating the sound is by humming at the same time as buzzing in the mouthpiece. at 2.22 he is beat boxing into the tuba. :D so now we all kno :D

  • i play the tuba that is not one

  • Your an idiot that is a tuba

  • thats first sound was cool how do you do that

  • wait...icant tell if hes doing multiphonics or he has really crappy tone

  • It sounds lie a dragon

  • I meant like not lie!

  • your good but your no Oystein

  • I love fnugg!=D

    Are you norwegian?

  • o this is fnugg

  • them percussive beats is hard.

  • I totally have this solo and I'm not asian, I went to state solo and ensemble with it and got a one, but I can't do the percussive beats.

  • i play tuba as well and i am not asian (is this multi-phonics btw)cause that shit is hard 2 do

  • I play tuba and im not asian

  • y r all tuba players asian... I don't understand. well besides oystein.

  • IM NOT ASIAN IM CANADIAN

  • I PLAY TUBA AND IM NOT ASIAN BITCH!!

  • your stupid not all damn tuba players are Asian all the best in my State are American. . .

  • that is not easy you are relly good

  • work on the tone in the lower register, but otherwise, extremely good!

  • nice job playing fnugg, it was as close to the original as anyone i've ever heard!

  • wow u suck

  • I did not understand this play!!!

  • Nice multiphonics...

  • Hello, I´m a Spanish tuba player, have you got any score??, I can play Fnugg, but I can play only something I make when I listen Fnugg, thanks a lot, and you plays the tuba very well!!, bye!

  • dude, so easy

  • fnugg! you do it extremely well, better than i've seen ne one else, i can kinda do this, but i can't play the actual song at all

  • People may criticise but this is awesome! You make it sound like a didgeridoo!

    Well done

  • OMG! STOP IT! Sell the metal tube and save some poor child!

  • who else played fnugg besides baadsvik and this guy?

  • Awesome i play tuba too!

  • I dont get it.

  • keep up the good work my tuba friend !! :)

Nice impression of FNUGG, by mr baadsvik

  • Fuck u

  • nice.........

  • It sort of sounds like a bass clarinet, baritone sax or bassoon also.

  • Holy crap! The multiphonics... geez. I've played tuba for years, and double toning is friggin hard to do! Good job!

  • He's Asian, it figures.

  • The song is Fnugg by Oystein Baadsvik, good adaptation as multiphonics can be quite challenging when one starts. Once multiphonics is reached, this piece is very playable. A bit under tempo but very well played, excellent work!

  • boring

  • vc toca muito bem fnugg parabens!!

  • Yay Fnugg! the only person that could do that better would be Baddsvik himself

  • how the hell do you do that?!?

  • Man this guys multiphonics is excellent. I have diffuculty myself in just getting base notes. If you all say he sucks your quite wrong. It may sound bad. But he is an excellent player. Double toning is quite hard.

  • For anyone who's saying he sucks- half of you don't even knwo what the song is. This is actually amazing playing.

  • mer party trick piece! lol love it tho! considering its got a 'beat' U look dead! get in2 it!!

    J

  • what is this song called...? its awesome!

  • He's playing an extremely difficult song, I say give him props. I can't play that.

  • yea ok...u do that and post a video response on it smart guy

  • I bet your neighbors hate you

  • It sounds like a camel, hippo, humpback whale, t rex, walrus or a dragon.

  • Nice, very nice!!

  • wtf

  • i bet your neighbors hate you

  • i wish i could play da tuba...

  • While your multiphonics aren't as good as Oysten's (whose are, though?), I actually prefer your tone, and this is crazeh sexeh tuba playing. Nice!

  • pretty kickass tuba playing there, LOVE the multiphonics

  • thats fnugg right??? if it isn't the multiphonics are still good!!

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this guy, I catually heard this on a CD it was a lil faster but it was sick... I love it.

  • what is this called?

  • el original es mucho mejor...pero tengo que decir q ojola pudiese tocar asi este bello instrumento

  • i can do that on my tuba

  • stop trying to be like Baadsvik! you freakin suck!

  • Okay, im a tuba performance major, and he does not suck. Why dont you try to do multiphonics on ur instrument as the whole piece, and this guy is still young, he might not even be a music major, just playing for fun

Now, crack777, GET THE HELL off youtube, you couldnt even play this. I wish he would put recordings of other stuff such as the vaughan williams or lebedev to show how good his sound quality is.

  • ATTN:...NO ONE GIVES A FUCK WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING...

    ........hahaha...isnt DRX a Lubrecant?

  • crack, if oystein says he is good then he is

  • who...

  • nice!!check mine out , is your tuba a bb or eb?

  • i am a real fan of Oystein Baadsvik and know how hard it is to multitone with a good sound. Pretty good! Very technically difficult song.

  • huh, wow. thats interesting. keep up the work, that is a hard song. anyway, is that a 5/4 yamaha?

  • that rox

  • This is throat-singing tuba!! He's not supposed to be playing it in the normal way you idiots - it's a cross-cultural style thing from a Tibetan tradition.

  • a pretty couch you've got! cool sounds!

  • poor neighbors

  • crack777, grow a fucking sack, fill it with some balls, and go make your comments to a military band. I doubt you possess even a shred of courage to express your negative opinions to those of us who could easily break every bone in your body with out even breaking a sweat. I play the tuba, weigh 310lbs, and can bench 410lbs. I will gladly teach you what you get when you insult a "Band Nerd".

  • lol man i love band nerds

  • i know we have a lot of talent. something u will never have.

  • I play the tuba... and Im proud to be a band nerd

  • tuba se la come entera vavosos!...

    me vale verga...

  • Great

  • poor intonation, great performance, i love your control of the low register
