This address took place at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, in Harlem, New York, 8 September 2000.

This is before the Zimbabwe Dollar was targeted for destruction by the Bush Administration and the DNC, to protect the De Beers diamond mining interests. They did this through ZDERA (the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act of 2001, which went into force on Jan. 1st 2002).

I even have a better one. 11 white farmers were killed in Zimbabwe. Over 900 white farmers have been killed in South Africa. There are no economic sanctions against South Africa.

Why? Because for the corporations, everything in South Africa is going swimmingly. No nationalisation, no land redistribution to speak of.

The whole vilification of President Mugabe and Zimbabwe is about securing corporate (mining) interests.

Why should a country across an ocean help fund land reform in a state to which it was not associated with? Who can tie Zimbabwean farmers with United States tax payers? Reagan was right to negate US funding. It was a British problem, not an American one.

The US reneged on it's own principles and Constitution and took over much of the responsibilities of former colonial powers of Britain, France and Portugal during the cold war. That why it followed the French into Vietnam. Or why it supported white minority regimes in Rhodesia, apartheid South Africa, etc. Also, financing compensation to white farmers was what the US promised before the signing of the Lancaster House Agreement. Then Reagan came in and said no.

I would love for the US to have been true to itself and told the British and Rhodies to take a hike. However, the US's foreign policy has been about securing free access to Africa's raw materials, and to suppress and drain any economic system that would be a successful alternative to it's own corporate driven form of capitalism. That is why Zimbabwe has been under economic sanctions since December 21st 2001 (ZDERA).

They helped make the genocide happen. Paul Kagame was financed, educated and supported by the US. He set off the genocide by killing the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi. Kagame then slow walked his way across Rwanda, waiting for the massacres to burn out. It was a massive powergrab in Central Africa, going from Kenya to Uganda, to Rwanda, which gave them direct access to the riches of the Eastern DRC - coltan, copper, cobalt and diamonds.
