  • Teresa Berganza should give master classes in giving master classes! She is so disarmingly honest, AND funny, in a nice way. Her little smooch to the pianist is irresistible, she is all enthusiasm, warmth and generosity. An excellent advice to the talented mezzo, direct attack on the final top note!

  • Another thing I notice in this great class is her modelling of the 'inner smile' that is so helpful to singers who have difficulty opening up inside. It helps to lift the muscles that are dragging down so that the upper resonant cavities can open up.

  • BRAVA TERESA!!!SWEETY WOMAN!!!BUT VERY STRONG CHARACTER!!!BRAVAAA!!!

  • its so hard to teach a student in one lesson how to really use the face. she keeps opening vertically instead of hitting the notes horizontally. it is difficult to understand, it takes practice

  • @Webarton I do agree, what's most important is to have the accurate sense of the shape of the note and vowel inside your head (physically and mentally). How open your mouth is from the outside is of secondary importance, or irrelevant as long as the sound is being properly produced.

  • student uses too much muscle

  • @fantibol there is a video of a bass from this masterclass

  • I would give anything, ANYTHING, for a lesson with her!

  • some body know the name of the area?

  • @lilibus255 It is "una voce poco fa" from Il Barbiere di seviglia, Rossini. Check on YT the aria sung by Beverly Sills...

  • the student doesn't have any hair!!!! but she has a beautifull voice... great student

  • thanks for posting this!!

  • Great! Really kind and generous! As a great artist!

  • Berganza's skill is staggering!

  • Great :) !!!

  • real shame there seems to be a loud hum throughout the video and the volume of the singer and teacher is so low :(

  • Amazing mezzo soprano ;)

  • une voce poco fa, this is a hard aria!!!!

sei sicuro/a ?

  • This lady's cool.

  • 1 Rossini ha scritto cito : si Lindoro ...

    non si Lindaro................

    2 acuti non appoggiati

    3 posizione sbagliata

4 il pianista ORRENDO , suona forte, forte, forte senza nessuna emozione

    poveri giovani,sono costretti di gridare......

    Dove é l'ambiente Rossiniano ,dove l'amore é un gioco,dove é l' emozione giusta Rossiniana..........,siamo nel 21 secolo ............ PS brava Oncioiu ha una bella voce !

  • do you think she said "si Linda" to help her place the high note with an open throat??? I'm quite sure berganza knows it's Lindoro

  • can anyone translate it in English pls?It wld be a big help.

  • At tha TB says that Rossini is very difficult to sing because it is very technic. It's too bel canto but you must have a very good technic to sing Rossini. She calls him her maestro because you have to sing with the brath. It is the purety of the notes.

Rossini mean happyness. When you sing Rossini it is like the best Champagne of France.

  • Thanks for writing the pianist's name. It's always important.

  • Berganza= La tecnica

  • 8:30 wow

  • yeah Mezzo Rocks!

  • does anybody know in which year was this masterclass?

  • 2003 :) :)

  • This is RIVETING! That mezzo is fantastic, she picks everything up so quickly and sings so carefully and disciplinedly. Wonderful!

  • woow ... that was an amazing singing ...

    congratulations Cornelia

  • Amazing teacher and very talented student...

  • the girl has a good voice but doesn't knows to sing coloraturas. Teresa at the begining seems to be doing some unnecessary ballet but later becomes a really good teacher. Bravi!

  • Omg, she is great.

  • she's so cute and energetic!! great teacher!!

  • Absolutely agree, what's not to love about Teresa? And to be able to take a master class in a role, from the greatest interpreter of that role...what an experience!

  • the student is great!

  • oh, she is sooo charming here, amazing teacher!

  • I like that she comments on technical work and not just character work. Most masterclasses arent very helpful but she covered a lot especially the language!

  • The student is sooo great !!! Amazing voice!

  • Merci! C'est super intéressant!

  • I'm glad to know Ms Berganza is leaving behind her the legacy of one of the most spotless techniques ever heard on the stage.

As a singer in training I also love the opportunity to watch her while teaching: I feel I have the opportunity to "steal" a little from her though her pupils here are at a far more advanced level than I.

    Thank you for posting

  • I agree. I do the same thing too. Although, its not recommended to put the techinques to practice once you actually have a solid foundation (singing techinque and the basic raw talent there).

  • What struck me while watching this was the massive amount of similarities between my own teacher and Ms. Berganza.

Y Cornelia, grande.

    Saludos...

  • Is there any way you could translate and pu9t captions in english? I would love to know what she's saying.

  • I'm surprised because mezzos typically develop later, but this mezzo has a beautiful voice and to me sounds like one of the best out of all these masterclasses.

  • woo maestra berganza es genial

  • bravissima berganza!!!When she cames in Italy?

  • Now that is vocal training. It's a shame it's hard to find this type of pure technique in the States.

  • She has an extremely magnetic personality-no wonder she is a great master of teaching too

  • brava,berganza i love you.i am shamed,because to be a singer,i can't speak french.hopefully i will to be you.

  • I like this students' warm, rich voice very much. Thank you. Are there any Masterclasses with Teresa in English? I'm an American.

  • Can she be my teacher!

  • Awesome as a teacher as well... wow! :)

  • Emozionante.
