10) As I post this comment, I see this "Comment Pending Approval". Since my comment is subjected to censorship too, I believe that SDPorg knows too, the importance of censorship. Free speech can work in favour of, or against you. That is why we need censorship. If my 10-part comments are not in line with what SDP believes, feel free to censor my comments.
9) A destructive opposition tries to rally people and protest and cause chaos in the system, so that they can have an overhaul and change the entire system. They find imperfections, and convince other people that this is imperfect, and convince them that they should rise up, and voice out, against what is imperfect. I am not judging you because I think you should be your own judge, and decide for yourself what kind of opposition you want to be.
8) I am unabashedly pro-establishment, but I also support certain opposition, based on their policies. Yes, we need opposition voices to give PAP more perspective, but there is a fine line between constructive opposition, and destructive opposition. A constructive opposition seeks to improve what is not right for the good of the people. They find imperfections and try to make it better.
7) What you are doing can have serious impact. The opposition voice can bring down the government, and cause a major crisis, and make Singapore lose its competitiveness in the global market, which we had built up over decades. I believe you do not wish for this to happen. But you can also be the voice for the common man on the street, and improve the system of the current governance.
5) I don't think LKY is a monster because of what he did (I have watch the video "one nation under Lee"). I think that it is impossible to have a perfect system, and he did what he has to, to ensure the survival of the young nation. In the early days, the situation is so much more difficult, as compared to now. If he is weaker, less firm, or even more compassionate, Singapore would not be the economic success of today.
My personal opinion is this: Some things are ugly, but necessary.
4) My only intention in this comment is to ask you, and other pro PAP, or pro opposition, to understand both sides of the argument, and not see things superficially.
3) There is a fine line between constructive feedback from the people, and feedback that can rock the basic constitution and integrity of the country. Who is considered a concerned citizen, and who is considered a trouble maker? More often than not, there is no hard and fast rule, and thus no definite answer. There are other countries that serve as good examples of why totals democracy, and freedom of speech leads to that nation's malfunction.
1) Kennth, you are very matured for someone your age. I am not trying to prove to you that you are wrong. In fact, you make a lot of sense in your side of the argument, but I think that you need to have a more balance understanding of both sides.
oh my goodness, you actually mixed faith with politics, I was beginning to empathize with what you went through but now I am utterly turned off. render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and keep state separate from religion please. lets hope the worker's party has more professionalism.
A very good start, and be engaged as "An Active Citizen"! As long as you are true to your self and nation, there should be no need to fear. Take on LKY? A David and Goliath story in the making!
How he illustrated the impact of the video on him was rather exaggerated, and it's curious how faith came in to guide him in his political awareness. Whether he is less 'foolish' than how he was previously, I dont think we can say for sure.
Hi Kenneth you may be small that speak out. Those who criticized you are smaller pplin big bodies who wants to make you feel small. I salute you kenneth as there many small ppl here to make others look small. Shame on them
On the surface you think you are smart and doing the right thing, but in reality you are not as smart as you think. At your age you should learn patience and go and complete your studies first. You are wasting taxpayer money by not concentrating on your studies. Taking on LKY and calling him without the salutory 'Mr' is very rude indeed esp for a young kid like you. Before you begin to judge LKY, go and travel the region first before you even open your mouth.
dude, having this sudden revelation of ideals and stuff from just ONE web video is plain..... naive. you say that you're on stage to tell your side of the story, then have you heard HIS side of the story yet? if not, don't call it lies.
1. Your world view changed so drastically after one documentary? But then, you're only 16. I felt the same way at your age.
2. You actually argue with your parents over politics? I think that's pretty rare.
3. Is this an official SDP video? I heard the term "oppressive" a few times. The PAP government is best described as dynastic, authoritative, politically-repressive, but not oppressive. The Burmese junta is oppressive.
Mr Kenneth Lin - maybe it would be a polite for you to do an additional of a Salutation for our Minister Mentor throughout the speech. =D
good that you understand what you want and what we as Singaporean need :D

I hope Kenneth Lin gets a GOOD education, and challenge the incumbents in the future, especially Li Hongyi and the 'white horses' of the l33-regime.
