@cheftell22 Perhaps, but what I do find interesting is the Guard is sent to dangerous places of IEDs/insurgencies and yet this car's armor appears to be thinner than the Caddy. So, German engineering/innovation could make this car just as safe but the Caddy may be safer. To note, it is also important for a car to have manueverability/acceleration as well as entry/exit of the car should the car be on fire somehow.

My cousin inherited some money and bought a 99 s 320..I loved it..then he traded it for a 2000 bmw 740 il. bad mistake..didnt ride as well and i didnt feel as safe in it..but he got rid of that too and since then hes had a few more 90's model mercedes all very nice and smooth. No car built as well as a Mercedes. .

Current tech is indeed 3" for .50 cal., but is only 4.25" for .50 AP rounds. (I know, I know "only" is pretty relative here! But the Benz has windows this thick (4.25") and this fact, plus the non-vertical placement, enables their solution to defeat pretty much all but true 'shaped-charges'.

The real advaantage here is SPEED - afterthat first .50 cal. shot, get the hell out of there! V-12!
