I miss my 99 Vfr the sound is exactly the same as mine was . Gruff sounding engine and a pipe let every one know . Got a 2010 Hrc blade now and still wish I had my good old Vfr
I'm looking at a new Multi as my next bike. If the 1200 VFR had the same gutsy sound as the older models, it might be a different story. I looove the gear whine
I absolutely love the look of these bikes, but what gets on my nerves is the breathy turbo-y sound they make, whatever exhaust is mounted on them... and god forbid it's the stock pipe, as it'll sound like an electric scooter at low revs. :P
@Aussietuga The reason for the whine are the gear driven cams, the gears whine but the timing will always be perfect and the gears are bulletproof compared to chains.
Dude I would almost rather have a VFR than CBR. They'll run longer and they are much more practical for commuting!! Almost as fast too.... Interceptors kick ass. I have one with 33000 on it from 1987 and its fast and purrs!!!
Fantastic pipe configuration and sound - and yet not overly loud, which is perfect in my view. I just picked up a yellow '98 on Saturday last - 45,000 kms and looks brand new! Would love that underseat pipe but understand Wolf are no longer doing them. What a shame...
Well that's handy, since I actually live in Australia. Is the Staintune particularly loud? The one thing I liked about this Wolf was that it was reasonably restrained, yet still sounded good. Don't want the cops to hear you coming from 2 suburbs away...
No they don't. Only the pre 2000's use a little more due to a change in fuel management. Mine is from 2001. They're not the most economical bikes around, but it's really ok.
does anyone know where to get undertail exhaust system for 5th gen., I got laser xtreme for 6th, but I don't think I can fit it on my 5th VFR, anyway I'm going to try this sunday - I's gonna be f-hard...
Wow! I have a Y2K Viffer with a Wolf Exhaust too! I had to order the replacement cans and it has been a tough go of it to get tehm on as they are just a little different.
Do you use a Power Commander & K&N Filter? If so what map do you use for your power commander?
Wow!, they look awesome. I have a 5th gen in the same colour. Honda should have fitted a pipe config just like that as standard, but I fear that in the UK, the tail ends take the place of where our law lords say our number plate (license plate) should be :(
nothin beats that sound

nice bike great condition for a yellow bike of its age, fairly easy to see scrubs and scrapes on yellow bikes too.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for this VFR and were you satisfied with the bike? Thanks.

Well, funny how things turn out. I didn't pick up either a VFR1200 or a K1300S. Opted for the new Multistrada instead.

@laughingharry nothing can do here..in my country if u have a toyota caldina or nissan 350z then u're consider rich enough :D
but i think both test riders of visordown mag give a nice feedback about how positive s1000r is..

Very nice bike. Lovely sound too. :)

Wow, that exhaust really cuts the guts out of the natural v-4 growl. Makes it sound like just another I-4, only less. Nice looking bike though...:)

Very nice. You sold? Hope you enjoy whatever you bought!
KutWrite 2 years ago
VFR is sold. Now I need to clear out the FJR. Making room for a K1300S or the new 1200cc V4 from Honda. Thanks for all the comments.
TheToekutter 2 years ago
I would go for the new Honda V4. It's brand new tech while the K1300 is just a facelift of K1200, top performer though.
MotoflashRo 2 years ago
is it the 1200cc V4 already confirmed to be produced?as far as i know we just watch the plastic modelling isn't it?
metallica85 2 years ago
the new VFR is already being road tested by motor cycle news in UK and will be in UK dealers next year.google MCN and read the tests.

Staintune (Australia) still produces an under-tail exhaust system for the '98-01 VFR. It's available in the USA.

My 800 FI runs 17.5 km's on a liter.

my friend just bought this excat bike, is it normal for it to idel @ 1200-1500? cause i have a zx10 that idels @ 800
sallyrocks422 3 years ago
Normal between 1200-1400. Until it warms to 55-60Celsius, rev it around 2000-2400 for normal oil pressure. (use choke)

Wolf exhaust no longer makes an undertail system for the 5th gen. Might be able to find a used system on Ebay.

I would have put one of these on my 08 in a NY second, the stock pipes look like something from The Power Rangers.

Is that a T-rex racing stand? If so, how do you like it? Does it hold the bike level?
sophistical 3 years ago
It's a Pitbull stand...for single sided swingargms obviously. Still allows for rear wheel rotation. Yes, it's stiff enough to hold the bike level.
