I think it's worth considering that she uses her normal voice here.... any true Madonna fan will know that her best singing voice is the one she uses on Ray of Light. Now thumbs up if you know what I'm talking about.
This is one of the most genuine performances I've seen from Madonna in years. My only criticism would be that she's obviously struggling to stay with it the whole time. I think she has trouble making connections with the world around her. Her lyrics have become more self involved and she seems to push herself harder and harder when she could've just taken a deep breath and enjoyed this nice stripped down rendition of one of her most potent and enduring songs. Otherwise, I think she's awesome.
This is my favorite version of Like A Prayer. The reason it is is because this version is flawed and real. Madonna is getting older but the soulfulness of her voice really comes through. Brava!

It's almost common knowledge to know she's not the best singer out there. I think she's fine though, you don't need to scream and belt out notes to convey emotion while singing. Also, for someone who's never had a wide range, she sounds good for being over 50.

@MrGAYBUSTER ¿como que no canta? Una cosa es que no tenga un buen rango vocal, cosa que no puedo negar, pero lo que hay que reconocer es que tiene una voz bonita y está muy bien entrenada. Aparte de que tiene 52 años y la voz con el tiempo cambia y se desgasta. Busca "Like a prayer live in nice". Ya verás como ahi tenía mejor voz.

She has such a beautiful voice, although I think she tries too hard.
Good voice control, great vibrato, so emotional.
She has a good trained voice, she has learned to sing properly through the years.

I commend her for singing live even with that belt straining her stomach and with being over 50. I also commend her song choice, a song about celebration of life and celebration of faith. It is called HOPE for Haiti. I love Madonna! She did not make a career following others but made a career providing paths for the popstars today to follow. :)

It's almost common knowledge to know she's not the best singer out there. I think she's fine though, you don't need to scream and belt out notes to convey emotion while singing. Also, for someone who's never had a wide range, she sounds good for being over 50.
