She did excellent, I love the singing! But I don't think this song should be sad like some people are saying. Cinderella is a dreamer with a vivid imagination. She is very passionate. So when she says "just as long as I sit in my own little corner" she means as long as she is in that corner, she can be whatever she wants to be. No one can take away her imagination, there is no limits.
Really Lovely voice, especially for a high school musical. I just did the tech for the same musical done at my school, and the singing was pretty meh, so i came here to find someone singing it well, and this is exactly what i was looking for. Well done.
You're too closed p. Really open up with your arm movements. I have to do this song with actions for a final in theatre, and I HAVE to be ALL over the place. Really open up. Jump around, whip your arms out, go crazy. Cinderella is childish and fun, not just nodding and smiling.
What accent? I hear no accent. Any possibility she is FROM a country? Perhaps that causes an accent.
SECOND OF ALL:
Her singing is REALLY good. For high school, that's actually impressive. I am a singer, i win competitions, i take lessons. I know this kind of thing.
THIRDLY:
Over the TOP? OVER THE TOP? She could have done MORE! Cinderella is a dreamer, with a vivid imagination that is bottled up all the time. She should be going wild when she lets it out like this!
What makes the song so poignant is that she can picture all these things, that she has this passion built up inside of her, but that she's been brought up to be so timid and downtrodden that she can't express it, and outside of her corner, she is colorless. So I think it should be optimistic and happy while she is singing of possibilities, but when that line kicks in, "just as long as I sit in my own little corner" -- that to me is very sad, her own realization.
I agree, when she sings it, its more like the way she would sing it not Cindy. i actually sang this. Not referring to her speficly but i hate it when people think they can b-way stars just cuz they can smile, sing a scale and not brake glass. Just b-way is ACTING and singing. cuz when ur in a show and hopefully a method actor, its how ur character would feel, they wouldnt care if the song was pretty if they were MOURNING!!
but that is the beauty of theatre. it's open for artistic interpretation. you may have played this song as mournful. i however have never felt that tone in this song - i think it comes off as dreamy and optimistic - the world is at her fingertips.
I don't get why everyone is saying no one can top Brandy with this song! In my opinion no one can top JULIE ANDREWS with this song!

This is well done, whether you are in high school or college. The set is excellent. The singing is excellent. You go, ladies.

Her whole character in the beginning is a nice, imaginative but very sad girl and I think this song is supposed to portray that.
So I'd say a mix, happy and wide eyed and crumbling and sad.
