dude, i saw a HUGE spider lightning bolt just like that last night. I could not believe it, i've waited so long to see it. scared half the living shit outta me, but i still saw it ;)
there is a very good chance that this strike caused a sprite. Spider lightning is one of the highest producers of red sprites called dancers that extend hundreds, sometimes upwards of a 1000 kilometers in horizontal extent
Real cool, lightning is so neat. I just wish i could have seen that in person. We are in a lightning storm as i speak and watching it through the window. Lightning...so cool
