wish i'd known about this when it happened...anyone who doesn't get the beauty of that solo doesn't get the rheos. half of their appeal was in the missteps and the rawness of their shows. it was all part of the rheos aesthetic, they never once strived to be perfect, they strived to be real, and in so doing gained a new level of perfection.
I love all the "not their best song/album" comments. By definition, there's only one 'best,' so you could literally say that about every other song/album. Just going through every song that isn't the that one and saying "Yeah, not their best. Or that one. Or that one. Or that one. etc etc.
-I guess what I'm saying is - Not your best critique.
I meant to say instead of "hey"...that very fast & easy to do solo (but rarely and therefore to an extent: admirably done) contained quite a few sour notes & not obviously sour either & the same goes for the vocals with (although I like this band) is not on par with something Ozzy would ever accept, which kinda nullifies the critique to a good extent.
I'm sorry to disappoint all you other people out there but, this song suck horribly. Maybe they have better songs out there but this one isn't one of them.
2067 is a pheonomenal record. I think it beats the hell out of all their others. Granted, I haven't heard every one, but Whale Music and Melville for sure.
i love the tenor guitar solo. they had a video years ago and i can't remeber the name of the song, but the video had a manquine of neil young covered in cobwebs with a sign around his neck that said "Canadian music". I wish i knew the name of that song cause it's really cool. It was the first time iever heard of these guys, of course thy are one of Canda's best musical acts hands down.
Not their best song! An iconic band none the less. My children love them! We'll sure miss them in the present form and look forward to the future. ps I loved 5 hole: Tales of Hockey Erotica
Dave's eloquence and creativity about our National pastime gave us a great evening out in the city and I felt inspired to lace up the black skates and grab a stick. Even though I only pass the puck with the children, it always feels very empowering glide across a frozen pond carrying a hockeystick.

Lame song that they screwed up.
2067 was their last real album, and wasn't their best.
RIP Rheostatics.

I dig noise rock, but wrong notes are wrong notes, vocally, guitar or otherwise & in all cases they materialized here and fucked up their critique.

It may be a below average song for them, but it is a damned sight better than the best songs from a lot of people...Rheostatics forever!

This is as bad they got. Ugh. But if this is your introduction to the Rheos, trust me that there's about a hundred songs better than this.

The video is for the song "Aliens (Christmas 1988)". Great video. I hope someone posts it here.

thanks man i've been trying to find it forever...cheers!

No problem. The song you are refering to is off their album "Melville" which I think is maybe their best. Just my opinion, though.
