Alfred is too pretentious in this movie, he seems to give an Oscar winning speech in every scene he's in, i hate how he speaks to Bruce here, it feels so rushed, he seems so cold and patronizing, saying "didn't you think there would be casualties", it's like he's saying "well Rachel had it coming, you've got yourself to blame for her death". Alfred should have displayed more emotion in this scene, he seems like he just doesn't care about Rachel's death
since we don't know too much abot the bandit Alfred was trying to catch could it not be that said bandit was bane? Because from what we know abot Nolan's version of the character he's been badly injured and needs his mask to survive. Could it be that he got burned as Alfred and his friends burned down that forest in Burma?
Batman and the story of Batman beats any other superhero with overpowered super powers in the history of superheroes. He is a true bad ass if you ask me.
I can't help but feel that this letter is going to become relevant again during the next film, as far as Bruce's ability to trust Alfred is concerned. i'm sure Alfred will eventually tell him what he knew about Rachel's feelings for Harvey Dent.

A seriously over looked aspect of this film is Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent. Eckhart simply made his character breathe with life and his transformation into Two Face made audiences cringe at his abandonment of his good nature and his fight against crime. No actor dominated this film, they all worked together to make it great. Lets not forget Gary Oldman.

I hope he finds out about Rachel's letter in the next movie, but at the same time, I don't, 'cause it would make me cry to see his heart break when he finds out. :(

Seriously, after I saw this scene I said "Good riddance, bitch!!!" Rachel really did lead Bruce on and kind of play both guys at the same time. She tells Bruce in person that she's going to keep her promise and be with him and then addressed him the truth....on a fucking letter!? She didn't even have the guts to tell him the truth in person. I was glad to see the bitch explode!!!
