Thanks! Umm...this one, I've been working on for two years....although the first workable version took me about 3-4 days, starting from scratch. The render took around 60 hours on a 2.0 GHz Mac Pro quad-core Xeon @ 15 fps.
Thanks. Actually, this is simply eyeballed from the available photos on the web. It's taken me two years thus far. Every time I 'get' a new detail, it's back to the drawing board...for instance, there's a detail with the centre rib on the canopy that I can't get quite right on this model. It's so glaringly obvious, I can't understand how I missed it...and when I look at some of my earlier attempts, I get quite embarrassed...
Lovley... Is it safer to model this in SketchUp than in for example 3DS MAx or Maya? I assume Archicad is useless in this context, but havent really started using it yet. However i know about the incredible possibilitied hidden behind the stupid repeating textures and profile edges of SU
Yeah, actually I'd tried to model this before in LightWave and in form•Z -- SU was the only program that made it possible. The rendering S/W is Cheetah 3D - highly recommended (if you have a Mac). ArchiCAD is an incredible tool - but it's more production/BIM-oriented.
No. All the modelling was done in SketchUp. You can see the original SketchUp model under my other videos. The rendering was done using Cheetah3D -- an incredibly inexspensive ($129) 3D app that has one of the best rendering engines out there.
cual es mejor Cheetah3D Vs archicad (artlantis studio)???

@acmrossonero123
Pues, son programas muy diferentes: no existe una comparación en realidad. Además, Cheetah corre solo sobre Mac.

Whoah...I can't claim credit for this one...this is by Austrian architects Coop Himmelblau.
But thanks for the comment!

This one was done for fun & experience. I've always wanted to understand that building, and thought the best way was to model it...

Very impressive work. Where do you find the source material to produce such detailed models?

is this rendered in sketchup of taken into 3ds MAX? by the looks of the detail is seems a little bit out of sketchups league
