I only agree to the comparison of fame, the TV station needed to let white folks get a rough idea how popular Utada is in Japan. They could of used Mariah Carrey though, because unlike Britney Spears, both Utada and Mariah have actual talent.

They're not like Britney, they CAN actually sing. They sell their voice, not just the looks.

Like many have said, maintstream sells and this song reflects that, but I still think there's more of her personality in this album than her first English album. Consider that she's allowed to perform on CBS is a bigger step than all the other overseas Asian artists who are trying to break into the US market. Her goal isn't to establish herself as the Jpop star we know, but as a R&B singer, so I imagine a lot of her fans who like her poppy stuff are probably turned off by this.

I think this song isn't that great either. But she is a R&B artist, well she gets her inspiration from that.

But sometimes R&B can be very boring , cliche and repetitive. Which this song is leaning towards.

I just realize this is hikki's first NATIONAL performance for her first mainstream songs out of all her past work so it was quite amazing actually and not much problems with the breathing this time when she was on KTLA morning news.
