@lOcolatiinO you are a tad confused too. Bolivia has rithms like Tundiqui "San benito" by los Jairas. Tuntuna another rithm that Los Payas used to play. Saya as far as musicians are concerned is the rithm to which the caporales dance. Here is the confusion, In peru they call caporale SAYA.. Fernando Torrico and Chila Jatun agree in this too..so there you have it.
@HelmetVanga Your the one who seems confused buddy!
There is a difference between SAYA and Caporales ( This video is Caporales )
Saya is the Dance from the Afro Bolivians who were brought to south america as slaves to work in the mines! I myself dance in a Chilean Folkloric Dance Group and we dance Caporales or know as Sambo Caporales and ther heaps of people in Bolivia who do not reckonize Whats the difference between Saya and Caporales.
to Dan & Richard: During Spain colonization of the Andes. The conquistadores brought african slaves from Zenegal & El Congo to Los Yungas near La Paz, Bolivia. Those africans brought dances & music along like rithms of saya & tundiqui. The caporal was a slave master dressed like these modern caporales. Slave masters used whips to keep the slaves who were in chains hence the bells on the boots. 2 brothers in La Paz late 60 early 70 came up with the idea of slave masters dance only "caporales"
Only 40% of the members have peruvian roots, the other 40% are with bolivian roots! Its always flexible. F.C.F. from Hamburg is an free dancegroup out of any stamps.
