@SomeGuyWithABucket The reason why theyre so much better that most american high schol bands is because theyve been brought up as a child playing the insturment that theyre playing today. thats why if youve seen some japanese middle school concert bands theyre soo much better than american high school bands
Great! Tone and intonation were amazing! And even the horn flashes were kept together well. ^.^ Great job! ....Why can't our band play this well? TT.TT
damn why can't our jr. high band be as good as a high school band like this one eventhough we got a state championship and our town is so freakin small going against giant cities like dallas, san antonio and all that (i'm from port isabel, texas a very very tiny town) XD. Anyways you guys do so well.
@RenyeReyna Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this band. I'm sure that if the other members of your band share your interest and enthusiasm then you guys must really be something special. I suspect that your state championship was well deserved. Thanks again for watching and commenting! ~Kurt :-)
@gery98 Whoa what you're problem with asians and instruments? we are people too, we can get better and better. Or are you guys talking about that particular group over there cuz their japanese. Korea FTW!
Japanese are serious with what they do and such talented musicians. Props on excellent performance. Love "Smoke on the Water". Cheers to softypapa for posting the vid.
hey softypapa, im just wonderin why u rite ur comments in formal letter. i mean its okay to do dat on business letters but textin and internet its all bad grammer cause no one really cares.
Hi 39533, Thank you for writing and for your question. This is just the way I prefer to communicate. I'm a very polite and formal person in real life and guess that this just flows through in my Internet communication. -Kurt :-)
@fan4nintendo It's indeed hard to imagine how much time has passed since I first uploaded this video. I did not realize that the La Bamba video was using the same tune until you mentioned it. This song must be popular here. I like your image of a "cocktail of melancholic bittersweet happiness". Can you mix me one as well?? Have a great day, friend! ~Kurt :-)
Thanks for watching and commenting. This performance was part of the entertainment for a childrens traffic safety course being put on by our local police department. The course was held at a local driving school and this is the reason everyone appears to be standing on a road.
Playing the piece and playing it well are two completely different things. Playing together with good tone quality and note accuracy is hard to do with any piece.
wow, my band teacher would NEVER let us do that kind of stuff (clapping, making lots of moverment, etc) when we're performing. it looks so much fun and it's so creative
wow.. really COOL!! I am an American guitar player..but I think this shows a lot of imagination on the part of your band leader. How about a medley of great rock riffs-ie,Sunshine of yr Love,Purple Haze, etc.?
I love the movement of the band. In my highschool band, the best we do is tapping our feet. The Jazz band is only a little better with some horn movement - but maybe I'm the only doing that. I'm surprised with the number of females playing low brass - I guess there are different social standards in Nihon. Do bands normally perform outside?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Your experiences with your own band provide an interesting contrast. Regarding outdoor performances, I can't think of another time when I have seen a band like this performing outside. This was a special traffic safety event for small children and I suspect that the organizers asked the school to provide some entertainment. Thanks again for commenting! -Kurt
They sound good most likely because in the orient you go to school if your smart or talented and only then.
That's why they say that in China and Japan that they have the best education and test results. It's not that all Asians are really smart it's that if you aren't smart you don't go to school.
ahhhhhh that looks like so much fun! i wanna stand and twist and turn when i play flute/piccolo but noooooooo we never perform in the gym or outside. it's always in the frigging auditorium. *incoherent grumbles*
The reason that they are playing outdoors is that the band was providing a sort of half time show for a traffic safely event which our city put on for the local kids. Thanks for viewing and commenting on the video!
nope i havent! i'm sure they're really awesome. my boarding school (that actually by now i've graduated from and i'm in a music conservatory now) is really the best high school for music in the US.. there were a lot of korean and chinese people there but not as many japanese. -shrug
that kind of reminds me of the national venezuelan youth orchestra.. (although the top orchestra in that organization is actually 18-30 year olds) its better than many professional orchestras .. they came to my music conservatory and i got to play with some of them.. completely mind-blowing musicianship
If by school you mean a public school such as an elementary or high school then I suspect that anyone could join as long as they resided in the school district. Language would certainly be a challenge if the person had no previous experience with Japanese. Thanks for watching this video! -Kurt (softypapa)
