Real bass artistry is being able to navigate a fretless finger board at high speed when you have no marker points for the notes. Do you understand this?

The guy can play your backbeat ,thats why he played with Joe so many times, but he helped trailblaze the use of contapuntal tapping, of which so many now use.He can slap like nobody's business. Well, you know. I actually practiced this and was able to play most of this. This was some time ago. Now I realize that this sounds awful. It's played well technically and it's a good show, but to my taste, that's about it. folks wha you dont realize is this was done nearly 25yrs ago. This was a couple of yrs after jaco died. Stu was maybe 25 or so. He was playing one of the most unique custom basses known. He was living in a terrible apartment in a terrible neighborhood, and then BAM. Alien took off.
