Do you know *ANYONE* who has lived in North Korea? Probably not. Only a tiny fraction of the populace ever leaves for any length of time. Even visiting NK briefly is nigh-impossible because of their rigid travel restrictions. But I guess I'm not being fair; I'm sure every humanitarian aid group. human-rights monitor, and free press outlet-- not to mention the handful of North Koreans who risked death to defect and made it-- are all lying. North Korea = Happy Land, and everyone else = hatin'..

Other than NK's nuclear capabilities, we are more genuinely concerned about human rights in North Korea. Have you heard of the labor camps that refugees are sent to? Or the high execution rate? Why aren't North Koreans allowed to watch South Korean movies or buy American goods? Why is some music banned?

The documentary, Welcome to North Korea is probably one of the most disturbing and creepiest things i've seen. The city is an illusion to the poverty and the sadness that lies within the country. The city is dead with its people brainwashed.

I don't know if its "by far" the worst. There are countries in Africa/South America with terrible gang and civil wars. Places with little or no government control. Even bigger nations with far more wealth and industry like Mexico, China, and Brazil have extreme poverty and extreme crime and violence expecially in Mexico.

Damn. I live in a city with a population of 200.000 and there is thousand times more light then in Pyongyang. I won't even start on traffic congestion. This is simply eerie. North Korea has (last I heard) about a half-dozen nuclear warheads, and lack any means of delivering them further offshore than mainland Japan if at all; the last missile they test-launched broke up 45 seconds after leaving the launchpad.. The US has a sprawling nuclear arsenal, including a fleet of ICBMs that can each carry a MIRV payload amounting to at least, if not more, NK's entire nuclear stockpile and deliver them to any spot on Earth.
