  • I hadn't seen this sketch for more than 20 years but I still remember so many lines from it. "Burmese maidens - in Todmorden?" Absolutely brilliant - but yes, so dark and sad, too...

  • Dark. Having worked in a nursing home, I can say there are old people who'd do anything for this much personal attention. Stephen Fry's patronising tone in this is actually very mild compared to what many are subjected to. And as for a room that size... well. Another excellent example of F&L's satirical edge.

  • Stephen Fry's impression of Alan Bennett

  • "Acting up like I shouldn't wonder"... Still can't recover from that line. My favourite Fry & Laurie sketch I think, even though it's sadly not so far away from real life.

  • "acting up like I shouldn't wonder". classic sketch.

  • where the bloody hell can i get hot coacoa with heroine in it? for that matter where can i watch a woman urinate while being breastfed? Wheres me damn coacoa!?

  • Brilliant

  • I forgot how much I love this one.

I'm looking for another one. About hugh trying to pass a story on to stephen about someone who was riding a horse and fell off. I can't find it anywhere. Does someone know where it is?

  • @DutchMileyLover Yes, search for Fry and Laurie, 'Marjorie's Fall'

  • @Zorg2006 Thanks.

  • @DutchMileyLover I found it on youtube by searching under "Fry and Laurie Marjorie's Fall." I hope you can find it, that one is one of my favorites from the show.

  • YOUR COCOA'S COMING IN A MINUTE!

  • God Little Britain is original

  • Of course maidens giving milk are quite rare, but it's the dream that counts I suppose.

  • wow. how tall is stephen. just take a look on him when he walks out. :O

  • Freakin' awesome. I love how nothing phases Brian -- Stephen Fry is king.

  • You're a great bog breath Nancy. LMFAO

  • "Acting up like I shouldn't wonder"

    Fantastic.

  • Anyone know where I can find the sketch with the Simon Condywust line?

  • working on it, i have the whole lot on dvd but can't remember which episode!

  • Haha, thanks, I love that sketch..."Well everyone knew....The Condy!"

  • found it, series one, programme 5, the sketch was called ''the burt'', hope this helps

  • 0:55, Hugh's hitting Stephen always cheers me up. And a nice change too! That's how patronising adults can be towards the elder, I think they captured it perfectly...

"...killing people and watching women urinate in opera houses, eating hamburgers in opera houses and drinking milk from the breasts of nepalese maidens..."

  • little britain ripped it off here

  • I have never rolled around so much crying with fits of laughter.......comedy has SOOOO lost it's touch these days! Bring back the old-skool!

  • 92 years old... and I've never had oral sex!

    LOL

  • tragic waste that

  • hahaha

    hugh was still hott.....

    really he was.... =]

  • You're a screaming great bertie and you pong! XD

  • Your cocoa is coming in a miniiiiite!

  • Ah, Hugh Laurie. Adept at portraying elderly desolation, too. And elderly drug-highs.

  • Thanks for posting this.

For reasons that remain unclear, my local PBS station showed seasons 1-5 of ABOFaL. This has always been one of my favorite sketches.

    (Where is the lid?)

  • These blokes are INSANE

  • laughwehahaoahahahaHAUHAUAHAUAHAHAUAH

  • That is SO me in 60-odd years...

Any women in West Ireland willing to let me watch them urinate?

    .... I'm really serious here...

  • This is actually a fairly dark skit. It's funny, because it's awful on several levels.

  • The Burmese are quite a subject of interest aren't they:) Stephen, or I should say Lord Fry had the same accent in Mr.Burmie.

Cocoa with heroine, that ought to hit the spot!

  • I saw it in season 1, just as you said. Hilarious!

What kind of accent is Fry doing? It sounds a bit like the one he uses in a season 3 clip I watched here, called Mr. Burmie.

  • I think it's just a made up silly voice, it's not an accent as such, just a voice to fit the character I think

  • it sounds a hell of a lot like a upper calder valley accent, i come from there :D. and it aslo mentions todmorden, so i would say....

  • I ordered seasons 1 and 2. Which is this from? The other seasons are due out in late July.

  • I think it's series 1, the sketch is called 'cocoa', hope you enjoy them!

  • "Actin' up lak ah shouldn't wunda" !!! LOL LOL LOL

  • lmao, 92 years old

  • Seasons 1 and 2 of 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' are available on DVD. This sketch is from the finale of Season 1. The 'Robert Robinsons', 'Rhodes Boysons', 'Hello Control', 'Engagement Ring', 'Irish Joke and Live Chicken', 'English Strawberries and Cream', 'I was standing right there and this guy...' and 'Hardware Store' sketches are all fantastic.

  • This is so funny!!!

  • well at least there is the right for the barbs, smack and nepalese hookers, oh sunny tod.

  • Does it really surprise you that Little Britain ripped this off? Although apparently Andy is supposed to represent Andy Warhol, but there we go.

    Anyway, Little Britain sucks.

  • "With added barbiturates and heroin!"

  • Hugh funny as an old man LOL :)

  • its one of the things you just dont see coming

  • Never drunk milk from the breasts of Burmese (sorry, =Nepalese=) women? Poor, poor Hugh ... Great sketch, never seen this one before =D

  • This is where Matt and David got the idea for Lou Todd and Andy Pipkin

  • I was just thinking that! I think David Walliams ripped off stephen fry completely! That character of andy was totally there in his portrayal just now1 Even down to the clothes!

  • I was heartbroken when my video copy of this was torn to shreds (damn the obsolete machinery) but now I can enjoy it forever, in the comfort of my workplace. Thank you, yellowperil, you've made my megabyte.

  • One of my favourite sketches xD

"You've got bad breath you 'av"

"well there's no call for getting personal"

    "like rotting cabages!" x3

  • "Never watched a woman urinate." Bwah!!

  • it's mine too!

you're very lucky I managed to intercept Mrs Gideon in the hall or else you wouldn't have got your cocoa!
