  • @IDXTreasureHunter1 I didn't say it was a mustang I was saying it didn't look like a mustang because someone had pasted earlier asking if that was a mustang. I personally that it was one of mopars beauties myself.

  • I bought a 72 chevy pickup on ebay only to find the windshield is missing, anyone have any ideas what i could use in its place?

  • That doesn't look like a mustang.

  • @LanceCorpralDavidS Sorry thats a 1968 custom Charger. The door and trunk are customized to open.

  • is the middle red car a mustang grande by chance?

  • nice nomad

  • thanks great video

  • I wait around 15 to 20 minutes depending on the humidity.

  • How long between coats do you apply the next coat?

  • A tip from Scale Auto Magazine said that you could use something like Meguiar's "Scratch X" to polish your model after laying on your final coat of clear...

  • Nice video . Thank you like the tips and hints .

  • duplicolor paint can't tell from the vid,,...is it laquer,...enamel ..., acrylic laquer ,...? they make all different versions.. thanks for the tips !

  • @TheRocketSilo Acrylic Enamel

  • @twiprod002 Why i use a Clear Of laquer in My model,And the paint just...Disolve and the body Has a Diferrent texture?

  • KOOL TIPS .................

  • Don't know if you've already know this comp. but use micro mesh sand cloths amazing a lil pricy but who cares.

  • @Slipknotfan90000 But they last a long time...

  • Hi!!! I have a old gameboy system (video game), is plastic and is VERY scratched with scruffs, I don't know anything about airbrush but I want to paint it like new. Should I sand it 1st to remove the scruff? What paint should I use for a matte finish? acrylic? Thank you so much!!

  • this work s with plastic model cars too right ?

  • @MrModel909 Yes it should work on all surfaces..

  • U should polish it when ur done and paint is fully dried(1month works best)

  • i want to use this method to paint my bicycle, im wondering if it would be a good method on metal. Also what should I use on the existing paint, should I sand it (if so what grit) or should I just prim over it.. By the way im beginner painter

  • @BadToaster I would use a very fine sandpaper like 320 or 400 then prime the bike, let it dry then scuff sand again with 400. When it's all done you can shoot the paint..... Good Luck!!

  • Excellent builds, and vids, buddy. It's a pleasure to watch 'em!

  • got a question how do u paint trims i mean its very hard to get into those areas i was thinkin using a black marker would that work better?

  • @GeeGee1486 You could use a marker or a sharpie paint marker . I use a #000 fine paint brush for trim work..And having a steady hand helps too.

  • i tried the system-works great. Thanks

  • can i use brushes?

  • @robthatguyx You can but the finish won't be as smooth and glass like.

  • @robthatguyx yeah brushing looks bad lol

  • If u paint over the car your paint will peel off like my dads ta in real life we got the car it was painted yellow an we sold it an it was painted 5 times jus over the paint job so lol yea

  • it suck^--^

  • Yes you need to sand the the surface smooth. And yes you can paint over existing paint but it will have to be the same type you used before. You can't use laquer over enamel. but you can use enamel over laquer. hope this helps.

  • well do you NEED the sand paper? and also, if there's already paint on it can you put other paint on top if it? (when its dry) please respond. I need answer quick.

  • quick question i am using a duplicolor primer and i am going to be using a krylon gloss paint and i found out the hard way that i cant use rust-oleum lacquer cause it makes the paint look lik a cracked egg soo what do i use for clear please help lol

  • @bad65stang Your best bet is to 1st use the same brand paint for a paint job. #1 rule do not mix enamels with laquer. That is why the paint crazed. Stick with the Dupli color acrylic enamels and you should be fine.

  • @twiprod002 ok so where i am using an krylon gloss paint what should i use for clear exactly thanks

  • Paint them inside a large cardboard box or hold them and paint them and then put them in a box for drying. The box prevents lint and dirt from getting on the paint.

  • Do you lose alot of detail applying 3 to 4 coats of primer?

  • I believe that the Dupli-Color is an Acrylic Lacquer, is this correct? I am just now getting back into the hobby (I got tired of video games). The current method that I am using and that is not working for me (even though the person I learned it from swears by it) is to mix 2 parts enamel with 1 part lacquer thinner. I can't get a glossing finish and masking tape will lift up the paint. So I think I will try your method on my next build.

    Peace

  • How do you ''feather the edges'' of a two tone paint job? I'm working on a "Superdetailed" Model of Dale Earnhardt Jr's amp car. But don't really know much about painting, Thanks!

oh thanks for the tips too!!!!

  • Great post please keep them coming.

  • iam just geting back in to building and i been reading the lacqer is better

and faster then the testors paint so this might be a dumb question but do u wet sand between coats?? or just paint the coats and add the clear

and then wet sand the clear thanks and nice cars

  • @grazcoolguy What ever type of paint I use I always wet sand between coats, It will produce a smoother finish... Good Luck.

  • really nice u helped me alot nice models by the way

  • Hey Chevyboitrav - The best thing I have found to strip paint off a model car is Easy Off oven cleaner (fume free). Let it sit for a while & then rub off with an old toothbrush. Sometimes you have to repeat the process, but it works great! Be sure to use rubber gloves & do it in the sink.

  • what do you use to strip the paint off a model car

  • @CHEVYBOITRAV865 Regular brake fluid and an old tooth brush...

  • Actually, the paint I use comes inside a really small bottle.

  • @sebastianhwang That sounds like testors paint. You can spray that, but it's a real pain in the butt...

  • actually the whole thing comes in a box with a paintbrush so i dont think that im supposed paint it. also, i am trying to paint a model helicopter so is the painting method different?

  • dont you have to use thinner on your paint? i use enamel paint...

  • @sebastianhwang Nope no thinner on the paint just for cleanup..

  • hmmm dont understand... the paint is really thick so dont u have to put the paint inside the thinner? the paint is like clay/clump of gasoline or something

  • @sebastianhwang The paint that I use is already premixed in a spray can.. It's available at any auto supply store..If your using an airbrush system let me know and I'll do a video on mixing paints....

  • @twiprod002 omg..i used the same paint like yours..is doesn't even come out right. i been in this kind trouble for like 5 to 7 times just to get it right, but is don't. i just give up and the rest are good except the body paint..omg..is FUCK !!!

  • nothing works for me i can follow this tutorial to perfevtion but but every time it comes out looking like toatal shit...wtf

  • Also, could you post a video about how to correct spots and blemishes on a model? I keep running into this. Thanks!

  • So do you assemble your model first before painting, or do you paint each piece first then glue them together?

  • too bad chicago banned spray cans

  • i just dont get why you would put so much work in to painting that i mean the finish looks good but thats alot of work to get that finish like that. i have painted a few models and sometimes dont even use primer, i use modle paint that you can get at any hobbie shop and from what it looks like its just as shiny if not more shiny, and i dont color sand or anything. i washe the unpainted bodly with dishsoap and water and paint and it looks good in my opinion so why?

  • nice man, my dad custom painted my Camaro, Black with 3 different color stripes "Trans Am Red" "Sun Orange" and "Chrome Yellow"

took me a while to find the perfect shades :-)

would be cool if you could custom paint a model for me or something, and make it the same as my car :-)

  • Hey twiprod hey a while back i was doing a model one you have done the enzo ferrari. I agree with you great model but real pane in the azz. I used the wrong sand paper on it 40 grits . So as i said i used a whole can of primer and it was the biggest can of primer duplicolor makes so i also used a whole can of paint on it because i covered up a dent and it came out real nice but it is expensive so when i do the clear i dont want to use a whole bottle Thanks.

    Tanner

  • With that much primer and paint on the car I would wait at least a week before putting clear on.. Just make sure it dry all the way through...

  • thanks but actualy now its about one and a half coats of paint because the primer didnt really fill all the scratches and dents but i will do that but by the way i am currently doing that and also the 68 corvette 2n1 roadster how did your sons turn out

  • 1. do you paing the parts still n the trees? ive tried this but i use testors glue and testors enamal but the glue "melts the paing before the peice is in place.and it looks like garbage. shouls i glue then paint ? or let the paint dry even longer? or try acryllic paint?

  • I do alot of the glueing before the painting.

On the parts I have to paint, I spray the then scrape the paint off of the areas needing to be glued..The paint I use is a acrylic enamel spray.

  • wow only $5 in canada its $9.99

  • cuz some time i see people spray on the car then use a blow dryer on hot what why makes the clear come out better

  • i HEAT THE PAINT ITSELF, IT MAKES IT FLOW BETTER...

  • when you put clear on do you have to heat it up when you spray on the cars

  • y sand after each coat?

  • For a glass finish.

  • hey love your tips but do you wash the car in soapy water after each paint is applied?

  • No soapy water just a clean water rince after wet sanding.

  • cool thanks

  • when you apply your last coat of paint and your going to apply your first coat of clear is it: sand, primer, wetsand, primer, wetsand, primer, wetsand, colour, wet sand, colour, wetsand, colour, wetsand (1000g), clear, wetsand, clear, wetsand, clear, wetsand, clear?

  • you got it now..

  • but why sand like what does it do exactly?

  • You don't have to sand. But the sanding will give you a mirror finish.

  • i bought a subaru impreza rally car from tamiya great kit but i was wondering if i would put a coat of clear overtop the decals to make shure that they dont leave over time would it ruin the decals?

  • I don't know if I would Clear over decals, it's tricky. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't. Most of the people I know use Future floor wax with no problems.

  • ok what about decal set whats your opinion on that?

  • i bought the dupli colour and it says to do all coats 10 mins between coats and all in 1 hr but can i sand it only 15 mins after i mean isint it pretty wet and will it smudge if I sand it down?

  • I have recoated my cars the next day with no problems. You have to wait at least an hour before wet sanding.

  • sweet thanks man

  • i have never used clear coat, im a rookie, can you clear coat a finished model, like will it mess up the windshield or anything else?

  • it will frost up the windows

  • Spray with the glass out.

  • ok, thanks

  • Spray with the glass out

  • I use 360.............. need I get better?

  • love the tip , i use the same paints , and also warm the paint as it applys so nice and thin , ... peace godfather

  • I don't paint my bodys, I get my dad to spray them at work. Any damn color I want. Good tips though.

  • why spend so much money on somthing like spray paint when color place is really good

  • My WAL*MART don't sell $#!T!!!! All they sell is "Color-Place............... WTF? Talk about copying. They use the SAME little decal thing on their cans, the rainbowish thing, yeah.......

  • TAMIYA is The BEST

  • Never had any..........

  • Forget the last comment on the sandpaper, it would help if I looked a bit more for this video, but glad I found it. Oh yeah, home depot has a trigger spray that clips onto the can. You pull the trigger & it pushes down onto the can nozzle. I just got one today. Thanks for the tips & I'll be using it alot. Dude your the bomb, glad to have you around. Peace.

  • Thank u for the info. The water tip is kool.Man if u lived in chic - town we could start a kustom model car club.Your paintjob's are so sweet!!!!!
