  • actually they have found evidence of a nnjato, (i use the term very lossly) because it was actually almost the leanght of a wakasishi ( forgive spelling) but it was actually formed from a saw blade! and it cutting edge resembled that as well. But because of this its construction was very poor, and id could not stand up to most katana blows. Hence why a ninja would steel a katana when he had the chance.

  • there is actually no historical proof that ninja used straight swords. They couldnt afford swords and would most likely use stolen swords from a samurai, and preferably the wakazashi, the shorter of the 2 swords.

  • @wolfq There is on more problem with the ninjato: Weapons were banned in japan in the year 1603 to1868.

Only samurai where allowed to carry swords... So wouldn't it be very difficult for the shinobi-clans to find a blacksmith willing to forge their very own swords?

  • @Ozzy2817 Agreed, they were more likely to take swords fromdead Samurai, but most of the time didnt use a sword at all.

  • @Ozzy2817 every ninja forge their weapons, but not all of them.

  • @markdave3 Then why are there no historic records of the straight-bladed "Ninjato"?

Or even one single sword found from the Tokugawa period that fits the "Ninjato" description?

  • junk

  • This is look like the real NINJATOS.

  • What is the name of the song in this video???

  • what makes it a replica? is it stainless steel? also where did you get/buy it from?

  • man thats Fake ninjato man. look at that fake hamon shit

  • Ninjas use smaller and straight swords called NINJATOS, Samurais use KATANAS!

  • @choister5000 No, the Shinobi did not use straight swords... The "classic straight blade" ninjato most likely comes straight out of Hollywood, not from medieval Japan.

There is no historical evidence what so ever of this swords existence.

  • nobody really know's besides there were different era's with Japanese assassins in ancient Japan

  • nobody really know's what kind of sword a Ninja used

  • @mishy26mm same as the samurai, katana, usually slightly smaller and straight though and worn on their backs instead of on the hip like the samurai, so as to make climbing easier and quieter, the ninjato is in all likelihood an invention by hollywood yes but before the katana they did use small straight swords very similar to katana but with inferior methods of construction as most ninja were common class and didnt have the resources to make katanas while most samurai were noble born

  • @mishy26mm all samurai katanas were curved but once the shinobi gained the knowledge of how to make their own katanas they made theirs straight with slightly longer tsuka (handles) the same as their previous swords as thats what they were already used to using, a curved katana has a different balance which would have required re-training

  • @mishy26mm ninja's just used katanas, the ninja-to is a Hollywood invention, the straight blade that the Japanese had was called a chokuto, they ceased using it when their forging techniques got better(hence the curved blade)

  • @choister5000 Are you sure about that??

cuz there is no historic evidence what so ever supporting the existence of the stright-bladed, square-tsuba Ninjato in medieval Japan.

  • @choister5000 the straight ninjato is a myth. assassins did use smaller blades, which were relatively straight compared to samurai swords, but due to the metallurgy of that time straight blades where rare and impractical. also the word katana means blade. and the other way to say it was "to" so ninjato and ninja katana mean the exact same thing

  • I have the same sword but the blade is black

  • @SlopyFish did you get it from blades uk.com coz that said it was sharpened carbon steel which shouldnt be a replica/fake.

  • @maxgunn555 dude this post is by an american website

  • @spikeycloud7 ok ty i ended up getting a different sword anyway. whirlwind ninja sword.

  • @maxgunn555 sorry for the real lag response new 2 YouTube no i got it from eBay it was carbon steel but its un-sharpened

  • @SlopyFish ty

  • I have this same sword, can anyone tell me where I can get it sharpened?

  • @Ratchet25

Well if you are in somewhere of china or you have friend from there you can ask it.Or ask here on youtube chosonninja may know few shops maybe that shps can zhelp you.

  • where did you get that?

  • stop touching the blade

  • @zenaku85 he can do whatever he wants with it. it is HIS!

  • @zenaku85 It´s a cheap wallhanger, relax! Not some folded carbon-steel blade....

  • Any ahole who respects their swords would not even TOUCH the blade! CHEAP knock off!

  • this is a cheap rat tail 3/4 tang its not even pinned and for people saying something about the strait blade ive got a hand forged custom that is straight edged an it was 499 uk so like 800-900 dollars so the quality of a sword has got nothing to do with the angle of the blade and definetley doesnt only occour when it has been heat treated.

  • @impakt750 shut up you nerd, no one cares, this is cool regardless and its obviously ornimental, go spend another 500 quid on something that sits in yer office gathering dust.

  • so fake. iv got a fake samurai sword and it has the same pommel. there isnt a proper end knot on the handlle which is plastic. and yeah the heat treating prosess makes the blade curve...

  • Why is it straight?

  • @niceprince ninjas use short straight swords

  • rubish, historically there was no straight bladed katana plus that every katana owner knows that even if u touch the blade and dont clean it the sword will get rusty

  • Another fake Ninja straight sword that never existed historically.

    Stainless steel.

    Fake Hamon

Owner doesn't know how to handle a sword and breaks the seal improperly

    touches all over it

    and then sheaths it improperly.

  • I would cut off your hand with that sword, and shove it in your ass dude...

This is disrespect to the tradition, and the sword.

Don`t you know, that Katana`s blade should NEVER be touched with a hand???

  • why the same shitty song for each review

  • tros beu il me plais !!

  • win?

  • what's up with that long dumb ass intro?

  • saw one of those for 10 bucks at a smoke shop lol

  • Sorry if I double or triple posted. Computer is acting weird

  • Why do you have all these videos of cheap stainless steel display swords? Just curious. Not going to give a thumbs up or thumbs down. If that's your thing that's cool, it just seems odd. Why don't you get some nice functional carbon steel swords? It's not that much more money for a Musashi or Masahiro Katana. . . Just saying.

  • you cann present your sword why a star but can you realy god fight with dem?

  • the sword is pretty. probably synthetic rayskin, potentially full tang, impossible to tell the material just from the vid, but the reason I gave this vid a thumbs down was not the sword, but your fingers were all over the blade, and then it was slammed into the saya, which is usually disrespectful. I've always had a thing for ninjaken as well, I hope this isn't your last blade! Good vid otherwise!

  • tht sword is so fake

  • @StHatredSX

It's a stainless Steel Wallhanger. It'll probably break if you try to do Tameshigiri with 'em. And: These swords are banned in Japan because they are not authentic.

  • hei man I have this sword but mine has:

    - black steel blade;

    - 4 kunai (launchable) hidden in the case;

    - 2 shuriken in the piece between the blade and the handling;

can you give me some info about it?

    Thanks!

  • @biklandur dude your sword sounds sick, were did you get it from and do you have anything about it on your channel?

  • @Scared4life19 yeah it's pretty awesome , i bought it at the fair here in italy for 75€ , i'll post a vid soon , i need only the time!

  • @biklandur i'll sub to you so i can see it, and time is a problem haha

  • most of the swords people buy are for display only or suck dick. I've seen one been made by someone with years of training, he made it from pure iron sand, all his tools and furnace he made. You can bend them without even breaking the sword.

  • I have that sword LOVE IT BUT they are display only!!!

  • that is a nice shinobigatana but it is only good for hanging on a wall. It doesnt have the correct blade, The hamon was clearly made with lasers the ito rap is not the rite material, it has synthetic ray skin and i dont understand why it says samurai in the name. The samurai were enemies of the ninja. Nothing about this sword has anything to do with the samurai. It is a beatiful replica of the iga ninjato but only good as a wall hanger.

  • It doesnt matter what the price is. Chances are, If your trained and you know what your doing you could still kill someone with it

  • hollywood ninjato -_-"

  • A Hollywood style ninja sword..

  • do you have a raptor series one

  • CHANGE THE MUSIC!!

  • Want a really nice ninja sword? Get yourself a Hanwei Ninja-to. Or even better, a cheness BUJINKAN KATANA, which adheres to the true ninja style of sword.

  • lol...this guys obviously never seen a REAL sword in his life,,

still ,,,nice cheap bit of metal there,,good for cutting weeds in the garden

  • its a ninje or a samurai dipshit those tow have bin in war for menny years

  • Ninja did not use this sword, this is a remake of the hollywood style ninja that appeared in many movies. Real ninja used many different weapons, but they relied on many smaller weapons rather than one ninjato.

Also the hamon is disgustingly fake.

  • another fake

  • why are all the mouthy teenagers running there mouth about how a 15 dollar sword is crap. I paid 35 bucks for 3 swords and they are able to cut through rough bricks, (yes I tested them) so for all you mouthy idiots claiming that 15$ swords are cheap how bout I get mine and cut your arm with it. btw this is a Ninjato, not katana. and yeah, this is a nice sword.

  • its a ninjato not a katana.... n it look like it was a musashi brand by the habaki...the black koga ninjato?? but the hamon was FAKE!!

  • Yup. Crap. The gold bracelet and cheap sword are dead giveaways: The guy's a Steven-Segal-wannabe-Ninja-toy-lover. Probably wishes he was Japanese.

  • lol at how neither the video's creator nor the commentors on this video know what a ninjato is. And why does $15 dollars keep coming up? That's such a specific number to insult something with, lol

  • that the real ninja tool

  • It probably say's somewhere in the plastic handle "MADE in china" cuz i knew it wasn't real as soon as i saw the bottom and top A bottom is plain and complete demeaning towards the world of Katana's. the whole point of katana is characterized by its distinctive appearance: a curved, slender, single edged blade, circular or squared guard, and long grip able to accommodate two hands. so you can tell me im wrong and shit but a REAL katana is BEAUTIFUL! not worth 15$ in china town.

  • @Unaddiction Well that sucks because he has it and no one cares about bad opinions.

  • @Unaddiction lol the thing is...is that it's a ninjato, not a katana, they're both different but also close relatives. Any sword for a ninja is usually straight though and the blade is not as long as a full-length katana sword. The reason for a ninjato's short length is for convenient sheathing and re-sheathing....nevertheless, it is true that the sword is fake as all outdoors and this guy is a collector of replicas.

  • By the gods! That's an ugly piece of crap!

  • dule bladed, nice shine, is this relly you if it is you kept it in a beautiful shape

  • @tajio101 it doesn't look double bladed.

  • not a katana

  • that is no Katana -.-

  • @rocketman468 yes, true, but normal people wnt know that

  • ma che cazzo sono tutte uguali ste spade..le hai comprate al mercato?? dio che schifo!! e un insulto!!

  • gorgeous sword!!! not a katana but who cares. nice music too

  • nice ninjatoe

  • sadly there wont b auido tho

  • ill make a vid responce to this showning my 2 favorite swords that i own

  • beautiful

  • the real ninja sword was a wakizashi in a katana saya(scabbard) with that same katanas handle. the point was so your enemy would miscalculate how long it would take you to draw your sword.

  • Not entirely true friend. Massaki sensei said that the ninja-to comes in many forms depending and suiting the type of mission the ninja was to undertake.

the wakizashi shealthed in a katana's saya was to serve as a surprise element in battojutsu as the shorter blade decieves the duration of the draw from the saya.

  • that is what made it popular. the ninjato would get stuck in your enemy on horse-back so then the wakizashi style became popular, but harder to get considering you would have to kill a samurai

  • you refer to hatsumi by his first name? what are you his boyfriend? i know u dont do it in person, so u must not have met him...

it would help for hatsumi to know ninjutsu for him to be able to give you these sort of insights....

you do know that takamatsu told the author of the Bugei ryuha daijiten that he made it up right?

i suggest you go look at the Shinobi Soldiers series here on youtube.

  • WOW gayest song in the world, you are a fruit

  • you have no idea what you're doing. that's nowhere near a katana.

  • what is this song

  • thats a laito sword not a katana similar but dosent have the unique curve of the katana

  • cant beleive you touched the blade with ya fingers.. acid in ya skin damages the blade

  • there is a lot of evidence to support that the 2 main swords of choice for ninja were the katana and the shikomizue.

the ninjato probably never existed around the edo period and in response to "painsey"...the ak47 won't "evolve", i think it'll pretty much stay the same considering it is a hunk of metal.

  • a true ninja or hitman wouldnt carry around a big ass sword like that around... and i bet they didnt wear all black to show they are ninja.. a true ninja would have worn civilian clothes like a noodle store guy and didn't need anything else but a pair of chopsticks to kill his target.

  • true but the swords they did carry had like an 18 sometimes 20 inch or closer to wakizashi size

  • FAIL

thats not a Katana. It's Ninjato

  • thats a hot ninja sword why ninja make them with squares and why they had a bottom like a pencil

  • crap sword is crap

  • this guy is addicted to buying shit gimmiks.

  • and absolutely knows nothing about sword etiquette

  • lol

I bet real ninja's wouldn't carry around a katana that would label them as being a ninja. That would sort of go against the stealth and would cause a lot of problems.

  • cringed a little when you touched the blade. X_X

  • @captainmoe

    why?

you are proliferating a preference of dealers, and james williams, which is NOT correct...

if you can show me a way that you can cut someone without their skin touching the blade i would love to see it...

touching the blade isnt a no-no, its touching the blade WITHOUT cleaning it after...

since dealers dont wanna do that all the time, its easier to teach "dont touch the blade"

i recommend kfkonrad1's videos on noto... eye opening.

  • @Arteanor I see no reason for an owner's hand to ever directly come into contact with the blade of his sword.

What reason do you offer for an owner to touch the blade of his sword?

  • @captainmoe

    ever heard of noto?

you know, the returning of the blade to the saya?

you draw the back edge of the blade across the left hand, which holds the saya, until you clear your hand and insert the sword...

havent you EVER watched someone who does iaido?

you REALLY need to go watch that video, educate yourself.

  • @Arteanor Valid point, however in this video he was not practicing or cutting with the sword. Rather he was displaying it, no reason to handle the sword the way he did.

  • @captainmoe

since it ISNT carbon steel, it cant rust.

since it ISNT edged, its not really a sword...

since you dont know the basics, and you have been corrected on them... why do you continue to defend the stance i have shown to be erroneous?

  • @Arteanor You mad bro?

I have the right to defend my opinion of how one should treat a sword. If you want to justify that a display piece gets treated any different that is up to you.

  • @captainmoe

    seriously?

so you want to continue defending something you have already been proven wrong on?

and i hardly call a wallhanger made in a shape that was NEVER used a "display piece".

if you think that a piece of metal should be treated like a sword.... even if its dull, then you must be as sharp as the "blade" sitting against the fingers at 1:09...

next your going to tell me thats his soul... get real kid, and go learn the fucking basics.

  • @Arteanor lol its a display piece, meant for display. The construction is irrelevant as its purpose is to be displayed. It looks more like a sword then a piece of metal to me.

  • Comment removed

  • @Unaddiction Perhaps you are talking to clowdycloud, if not then please don't put words into my mouth as I never called that piece beautiful. Thanks :D

  • @captainmoe

dude just give it up. I dont agree with the disrespect that Arteanor is throwing your way but everything he has told you is indeed the truth. The way of retuning the sword to the saya is the true way. It is just respect for the japanese blade. This peace of metal is indeed just a piece of metal. This thing will never be considered to be a sword by anyone who knows about real sword or trains with them. I myself train and know about them. Just listen to him hes speaks the truth.

  • That's a Hollywood Ninja-to. On top of that, you have an etched crocodile tooth fake Hamon. This is nothing more than a replica of a fictional sword that looks extremely ugly to top it off.

  • it does not matter if its a hollywood ninjato , ninja weapons evolve through time and the ninjato has evolved into a straight sword

  • look at the wiki, the ninjato is completely made up. there are absolutely no records supporting the claim that they were actively used by ninja.

  • it doesnt matter as i practice using the curved katana and the straight ninjato i just find the straight type more comfortable to use

  • /watch?v=0APeMTyiQ8U click on the description link to read more about ancient ninja swords. i can't believe i typed that with a straight face.

  • Ancient? lmao yea ok

  • don't give me shit, just do what i say.

  • fake

  • What a piece of junk. Besides theres no proof whatsoever that ninjas ever used swords like these.

  • Where can I buy one of these! Cool!

  • don't bother it's garbage

  • you know for not much more you can have a realt one that will not break when you try to cut it...the paul chen ninjato...

  • You're such a shit

  • What peeves me is the continued idea of the ninja being the black suited night warrior with a special sword etc. That was not the traditional shinobi and would be a dead give-a-away like standing in the middle of the street saying "I AM A NINJA". The real ninja blended into his surroundings and would use what everyone else were using so as not to stand out, so as swords go, they used the Samurai Katana.

  • i totally agree. ninja looked just like samurai, and the only difrence in the sword was that they where a tad shorter so they could be drawn quicker and sometimes cheaply made. The black pajama suit came from the kabuki stagehands...i am guilty of using a "ninjato" and dressing in all black but i never claimed to follow tradition

  • i second this but im may differ in some areas.Everyone always says that the ninjato doesn't exist and blah blah blah,,, i know they used a sword either it be a ninjato or a shinobigatana.

  • it was used a utilitarian tool for what ever the purpose that was presented.lastly i wear the black unifrom only because it just my class uniform color ,nothing more.that scottbioas guy seems to be another no lifer telling me im all half ass and fake, he's so quick to judge but whatever.and yes i don't claim any title except "student" and i like to follow the koga {or whatevers left of it,thats known} but im training in the bujinkan style.

  • also id like to say something about this sword in the vid,,no offense but this sword is cheap,i bout one before and felt like a tard for wasting money on this piece of metal.Ive found a few other swords id like to add to my collection of "Fake" Shinobi gear

  • ya no dude i never really thght about that but your totally right thats kinda common sense i when u think about it

  • their "katana" would usually have a straight blade instead of a curved one sometimes due to the lack of skill of the smiths that made these poorly designed blades. however if a ninja did somehow manage to defeat a samurai they would definitely take his katana seeing as it was far superior in terms of quality. if they did wear a kabuki it was usually navy blue instead of black

  • wow click the remove button. there's no historical records of ninja ever using straight bladed swords and ninja were samurai class so they had access to the same blacksmiths as everyone else.

  • Comment removed

  • nice name, it suits you. historical records concerning ninja are often sketchy due to the myths and whatnot behind them, its traditionally assumed that they used straight blades. they were not in the same class as samurai in fighting ability or social status. they were often just farmers that were being oppressed by some of the corrupt samurai. even if they could manage to find a good blacksmith they likely wouldn't have the funds for a good sword

  • the farmer ninja shit was started in the 80's by some chump. do research pl0x

  • i have done research :). who would you say the ninja were if not abused farmers and townsmen then, id say itd either be that or hired assassins conscripted to kill feudal lords o.O?

  • playing tenchu is not research.

  • ive never played a tenchu game, i played the original ninja gaiden when i was a kid but my research has consisted of studying okinawan weapons and how many of them derived from farm tools, this led me into a study of the samurai and japanese martial arts, now i am furthering my study as a kendoka. dont be a condescending asshole. like you, i try to learn as much as i can so if you know something that i dont please just say it and stop with the snide remarks. sorry for any previous insults btw =/

  • well there's like books and records that state that ninja were samurai class. there are other sources that claim that they were poor people trained to protect monks and there's evidence that the straight bladed ninjato was invented in the 1950's check out swordbuyersguide for that and for more info on ninja check out scottbaioisdead, he's studied martial arts for 22 years so he knows some crap.

i guess i'm sorry for being a cunt as well but there's a lot of little kids on here.

  • thank you :). thats interesting, whenever i try to study ninja and whatnot i get kinda frustrated trying to sort out the myths from reality and all so ill check him out. anyway with things like katana and ninjas ive kinda just gotten used to all the kids that are attracted to these things for the wrong reasons now, i kinda try to filter them out like white noise :)

  • oh btw masaaki hatsumi is from what i can see a good source of japanese martial art related information as well, though i haven't had time to read as much of his material as i would like to :(. you're probably familiar with him already though

  • vaguely i haven't done as much reading as i would've liked to either. there's plenty of little kids that comment on swordbuyersguide videos where he does destruction tests, they'll say things like "had that been a real katana, it would have cut all the way through that steel drum and wouldn't have lost its edge." it's quite amusing, but be prepared.

  • lol the katana is my favorite sword and weapon but it gets blown out of proportion alot. :) peace

  • How much does these sword cost?

is there enny place you can buy traing vearsions too??

  • the swords called a ninjato or something there smaller and lighter than the traditional katana allowing the ninjas to conceal them and make the ninjas more agile.

other than that, where can i get one :D ?

  • FFS!! its not samurai katana. its ninja sword. change title. it gets on my nerves

  • ok that is obviously a piece of crap. the tsuka is cheaply woven nylon, the blade is cheap chromed steel, prbly not even stainless, and the blade lacks a blood groove, fuck its not even a ridgeback! if you payed more than 15$ tops for that you got ripped...

  • ninja blades dont have blood grooves moron.

  • excuse me? ninjas used a wide variety of weapons, and in fact they can have blood grooves. thank you fuckface!

  • he's right. swinging a sword with a blood grove would make noise and might give off your posision.

  • actually, hes not, ALL swords make a noise like that. ninjas never used swords for stealthy kills, only for open combat. assassinations were done up close and personal via a kunai or shruiken, or bare hands. i actually left him this info on his channel, so u just missed it. and if you doubt my accuracy, then 1. swing a sword w/out a groove and see if it makes a sound, then 2. do a little research on ninjas. believe me i know my shit!

  • @dartrip4

you do know that most traditional swords do not have bohi, which is in fact NOT a blood groove....

its a means to LIGHTEN the sword...

i think you should do some homework before you spout off like an expert...

not saying this sword is any better than you did... just correcting your errors.

  • @dartrip4

Its a replica, it shouldn't be used for real combat anyways.

  • a glock 17 would make someone drop that sword real quick as they piss their pants lol

  • probably, but im more of a fan of swords and knives than guns

  • me 2

  • Yeah, me too. I do like guns though, but not as much as swords and such.

  • it is nice but it is obviously a cheap, stainless steel sword. anyone know of a sword like this one that is carbon steel other than the Musashi Koga sword?

  • <.< .... look at the hamon ...horrible ...a "ninja sword" wouldent actualy have a blade like that it would look alot like any other blade to the untrained eye ...that is without a doubt 440 stainless steel, rat tail tang too ... *sigh* you could break it with a broom stick

  • Ultimate warrior, what? The ninja were indeed powerful, but the mightyest class was considered to be the samurai. The ninja were SPY'S and are somehow believed to be warriors. This is not untrue, of course. But they were supposed to avoid combat when retrieving information. And besides, a samurai's Katana would last longer than a ninja's Shinobigatana. This was because samurai believed their sword was their soul, while ninja used their swords as tools.

  • the samurai were rich land holder hi class warriors and did have much better swords than the ninja. but the ninja were not just spy's.they were mostly farmers and

they developed there skills to defend themselves against the samurai and other ninja clans. a few did become spy's and assassins as there training was ideal for the job. a lot is still not known about the secretive Ninja. and will always be so.

Ps. this is a cheep and nasty knock off sword.
