And look for her beautiful solo on Helene Grimaud's album being released on November 8th. (Great article on Grimaud, the album, and Erdmann in a recent edition of The New Yorker.)
@stokleyb In my humble opinion, she is having a career because she looks much nicer than she actually sounds. Her tight high notes are abrasive straight tone singing are reminiscent of Charlotte Church. I thought the most solid performer (vocally and dramatically) was Luca Pisaroni as Leporello.
@OperaBoy1986 In my not humble at all opinion, you just made two ridiculous comparisons plus one implication that Luca Pisaroni doesn't have handsome looks, as if any of those are relevant at all to music or Mojca's unique voice.
@krystianji If you think her voice is unique, then you don't know very much about singing. It's completely generic, and there are light sopranos at every major conservatory who could best her pedestrian singing. And saying Luca Pisaroni was the best singer (in response to the ludicrous claims that the strongest performance came from Erdmann) is in no way saying that he is unattractive. He is very attractive. And he can also sing. This is a small yet crucial distinction between the two of them.
@OperaBoy1986 thank you for exposing more of your ignorance here. i have no more comment. i wish the "light sopranos at every major conservatory who could best her pedestrian singing" but ignored by selection system can stand out via your expertise recommendation. I also wish "the best singer" in your opinion would "know very much singing" and agree with you about "pedestrian singing".
@OperaBoy1986 It's very sad how people like you take delight in making savage and exaggerated criticisms of fine singers. Her singing may not be to your taste but it is certainly not pedestrian, nor is it abrasive, quite the contrary!
Mojca Erdmann just did the most wonderful performance as Zerlina in Don Giovanni. What an amazing voice--moving between bel canto and coloratura--just wonderful.
Ach ich fuehls auch, Mojca! Pure pleasure to listen to the all too short samples. Wish they would have let you finish at least one aria. Can't get enough Mozart these days.

In my humble opinion, Ms. Erdmann stole the show in the Met's opera in Don Giovanni yesterday.

saw her in Don Giovanni too, and we voted her best voice, after Marina Rebeka. Will buy her CD too.

Love her. She is becoming my new fave. And her version of "Ruhe Sanft" (my favorite Aria) is incredible.
