I think that Hyundai is fudging the data. I cannot believe that a car with the claimed hp can get 35mpg on the highway. That's Toyota Corolla territory. My old Corolla would give me about 36-37 but it didn't have any power and it took over 10 seconds to got to 60mph. I don't believe these numbers.

The car is very beautiful. It seems Sonata is coming to Europe with the name Ix/40. I've been 'googling' and read that in some markets including UK, there is a plan to sell this sedan and a sportswagen. There'll be some changes in the looks.

Right now, I own a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. BY FAR, this is the BEST car Ive ever owned, and the past 5 cars I had were ALLL American cars. Because Ive had such great luck with my Hyundai, I will ALWAYS continue to buy that brand ONLY. I get great gas mileage, NO PROBLEMS what so ever, and it still even looks nice. I also own a 2002 sonata,mine is a 2.7 auto,and is also a very dependable car,some of the materials are not so great,but otherwise always there when I need it,I get crappy mileage though,only getting about 15-17 mpg city and about 20 or so highway.Hyundai has came a long way for sure,I am not to sure about the styling of the 2011,peace out.

The Genesis is REALLY nice, but to say its "Pushed out" all luxury cars, is a bit ridiculous. BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Porsche, etc.. etc... will always be high end, when it comes to luxury and performance... Hyundai's are really startin to up there game, but they can't compare to those unless you're getting into the 2011's... But the way I see it, they're still behind the "Luxury" brands... A 2005 or 06 Mercedes (Properly equipped) is just as nice, if not nicer...

Hyundai is doing exactly what Wal-mart did in the late 80's: taking what people want and pricing it just below anything else similar. The Korean AG is re-building both Hyundai and Kia not only mechanically, but socially. Hyundai is a capitalist success story and the story continues.
Oh man - I love my Lexus but Hyundai keeps building muscle and they are charging fast. I admire their Genesis product. GM and Ford seem to be building nice looking products all of a sudden. The Consumer wins,,,which is all that matters.
I think Hyundai is going for Chrysler/Buick right now. Hyundai CEO refers to Hyundai as an "Aspiratational" which Chrsyler is an Aspirational brand.
We will get Lexus in the Futrue, but we have a few things to learn first, and our Fuel Economy ojbective to be the fuel Economy leader on the Planet will also get in the way of us making the kind of sport sedans Lexus makes that can take on AMGs.
By the way as of last week, Hyundai is number 1 in fuel Economy in the US according to the EPA.
I do think as Hyundai learns about luxury, they wont decide to create a make further upmarket brand from scratch. I do see them Buying Rolls from BMW, Jaguar from TATA, or Aston Martin.
Hyundai has always wanted Jaguar, but on their own terms and as cheap as possible, or through a hostile takeover like they took over KIA. Hyundai may be a new 3rd tier near luxury brand, but its still thrifty as possible in business.
Spending hundreds of Billions on a new brand is not the Hyundai way.
I think over the long run TATA will prove to not be mature enough to handle a make like Jaguar. Some Asian financial crisis will hit again TATA will be vulerable, and Hyundai will pounce.
They will keep pumping money into Jaguar, but with primitive TATA engineering support, and already lackluster reliability even without TATA, I dont know.
Hyundai is the brand that can really turn Jaguar around. I think its sweet that Hyundai uses the same blue lighting scheme found in the New Jags.
so it has been confirmed that a Turbocharged sonata will be out by 2010, the buick lacrose is no match for hyundai's sonata, plus who would buy a buick anyway? its a brand for old people.
This would be awesome. 200HP GDI, and still 35 MPG?? That's amazing, let's just hope the steering gives that natural, connected feel. Everything else shouldn't be a problem, because Hyundai is getting up to speed. Keep up the good work Hyundai.

While I love Hyundais they are far less than original. The gauges are from the new buick lacrosse, the center console is almost a direct copy of the new lacrosse.
I saw it. I was a proud tibiron owners and I know my hyundais very well. Again no they don't look alike although the interior of the genesis is get similar to the Toyota crown. JDM vehicle, so you probably wouldn't know anything about that even though. Even the new equus is based off of the new crown.

Buick is the number one brand in China, but we do not live in China. In the US, the Sonata will outsell the LaCrosse 2 to1. This is not to say that the LaCrosse is bad, just that for thousands less you can have an American built car with just as much pizzazz. And a better warranty, although you will most likely never use it(JD Power).

To Genesyxx, easy way to do. Freeze at 0:21, copy it to the clipboard with 'Printscreen' open it with Paint, save the file, and use your favorite graphic program like gimp, get rid of the background whites, and resize, and presto, you have your pic for your screensaver. :P

@asb81689 Yea!!! I also own a 2004 Sonata and have driven more than 129,000 miles since 2004, and it is still running strong. I have not had any serious problem yet. I only put on a basic maintenance.

The Genesis is REALLY nice, but to say its "Pushed out" all luxury cars, is a bit ridiculous. BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Porsche, etc.. etc... will always be high end, when it comes to luxury and performance... Hyundai's are really startin to up there game, but they can't compare to those unless you're getting into the 2011's... But the way I see it, they're still behind the "Luxury" brands... A 2005 or 06 Mercedes (Properly equipped) is just as nice, if not nicer...

To everyone who says, "Its still a Hyundai" I feel sorry that you guys are so hooked on name badges. But if I were to pull up next to you in this and I compare feature to feature and the price tag and your only response is, "Its still a Hyundai" I feel sorry for you. GM banked on that for years and look where it got them!

ok why is everybody saying hyundai is from GM hyundai is from korea and it Hyundai,Kia Motors not GM GM sucks ok chevy,pontiac,saturn,jeep,hummer suck ok trust Hyundai because they got better prices and better quallyty not plastic interiors they got leather and wood and pleather interiors

@jovanni124 Lol, what he meant was that GM didn't take Toyota or Honda seriously because they felt no matter how good they got people would still view them as "The piece of shit Asian crap", and look where it got them, outsold by that very shit and into bankruptcy because they never perceived them as a serious threat until it was way too late. Now there are those that say the same thing about Hyundai, but in the end it is quality, not branding, that people want. Hyundai will take over.

I agree, power aside, I am a V6 freak. Well, not much a V8 fan cause of fuel price, but I would NEVER drive 4cylinders no matter how good or powerful it is, and no matter if it is turbo or not. Maybe it's just me but....

I know hyundai dropped the 2.7 from the tuscon,but since when did they drop the 3.3 from the sonata? The 2.7 was dropped from the tuscon because it is not going to meet fuel economy requirement,but the 3.3 is the optional engine for ther sonata,I just bought one?Do you live in a foreign country? I am confused brother.

How many more years do we have to listen to "it looks like a great car, but it;s still a Hyundai"? They are actually improving at a fast rate, consistently building very good cars, and suprising everyone. Kudos to Hyundai for not backing down.

this car is hott...just bought a 09 sonata limited with navi, i think i may upgrade when the 2011 model hits showrooms,
i see all these commercial about cars in its class such as accord, camry, altima attacking each other, in my opinion i think its the sonata they should be frightened of....

Hyundai is doing exactly what Wal-mart did in the late 80's: taking what people want and pricing it just below anything else similar. The Korean AG is re-building both Hyundai and Kia not only mechanically, but socially. Hyundai is a capitalist success story and the story continues.

Oh man - I love my Lexus but Hyundai keeps building muscle and they are charging fast. I admire their Genesis product. GM and Ford seem to be building nice looking products all of a sudden. The Consumer wins,,,which is all that matters.

I think Hyundai is going for Chrysler/Buick right now. Hyundai CEO refers to Hyundai as an "Aspiratational" which Chrsyler is an Aspirational brand.
We will get Lexus in the Futrue, but we have a few things to learn first, and our Fuel Economy ojbective to be the fuel Economy leader on the Planet will also get in the way of us making the kind of sport sedans Lexus makes that can take on AMGs.
By the way as of last week, Hyundai is number 1 in fuel Economy in the US according to the EPA.

I do think as Hyundai learns about luxury, they wont decide to create a make further upmarket brand from scratch. I do see them Buying Rolls from BMW, Jaguar from TATA, or Aston Martin.
Hyundai has always wanted Jaguar, but on their own terms and as cheap as possible, or through a hostile takeover like they took over KIA. Hyundai may be a new 3rd tier near luxury brand, but its still thrifty as possible in business.
Spending hundreds of Billions on a new brand is not the Hyundai way.

I think over the long run TATA will prove to not be mature enough to handle a make like Jaguar. Some Asian financial crisis will hit again TATA will be vulerable, and Hyundai will pounce.
They will keep pumping money into Jaguar, but with primitive TATA engineering support, and already lackluster reliability even without TATA, I dont know.
Hyundai is the brand that can really turn Jaguar around. I think its sweet that Hyundai uses the same blue lighting scheme found in the New Jags.

so it has been confirmed that a Turbocharged sonata will be out by 2010, the buick lacrose is no match for hyundai's sonata, plus who would buy a buick anyway? its a brand for old people.
and the sonata is so much more fuel efficient.

This would be awesome. 200HP GDI, and still 35 MPG?? That's amazing, let's just hope the steering gives that natural, connected feel. Everything else shouldn't be a problem, because Hyundai is getting up to speed. Keep up the good work Hyundai.

While I love Hyundais they are far less than original. The gauges are from the new buick lacrosse, the center console is almost a direct copy of the new lacrosse.

I saw it. I was a proud tibiron owners and I know my hyundais very well. Again no they don't look alike although the interior of the genesis is get similar to the Toyota crown. JDM vehicle, so you probably wouldn't know anything about that even though. Even the new equus is based off of the new crown.

????? Sorry you don't make any sense. But the lacross will outsell it. Buicks always sell in very large numbers especially the lacrosse. Not to mention that Buick is the number one selling brand in china.

Buick is the number one brand in China, but we do not live in China. In the US, the Sonata will outsell the LaCrosse 2 to1. This is not to say that the LaCrosse is bad, just that for thousands less you can have an American built car with just as much pizzazz. And a better warranty, although you will most likely never use it(JD Power).

To Genesyxx, easy way to do. Freeze at 0:21, copy it to the clipboard with 'Printscreen' open it with Paint, save the file, and use your favorite graphic program like gimp, get rid of the background whites, and resize, and presto, you have your pic for your screensaver. :P
