This must have been the moment when John Cleese, watching his '64 television set said to himself: " hang on,.........now I know what I'm gonna do with my life".
Be pressed to see Mick & Keith pull that one.! Eric left the yardbirds because "they were more interested in what Freddie and the Dreamers were wearing on stage"
Did he have this in mind?/// God keep freddie...pure music hall.
To me Freddie is a cross between Jerry Lewis and Al Jolson. Watch the video of Jolson singing Tootsie and notice his mannerisms. Actually Freddie had a very good singing voice.
@redstart4 The music of the 60`s was fantastic, even now in 2010 we can still sing to it, I don`t know what we will be able to sing in 50 years from now from todays music, my guess is NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
I grew up with Freddie, but lost touch. We met up again sledging in Bramhall Park and quaffed a couple of scoops, in the early 70's. Kept in touch 'till sadly bad health intervened and he and his lovely missus went off in their motorhome to spend his last few years living his dream
Yeh. That's Jimmy Saville (now Sir Jimmy Saville) Britain's most FAMOUS DJ and Pop Presenter, STILL going strong in 2009! Hows about that, guys n gals?
i loved finding this cos i m a singer and 20 odd years ago i used to work in churchills bar in tenerife and roy the guitarist losing his hair in the vid was the owner but nobody knew he was in the dreamers and i somehow managed to get him up to play along with me it was only later i found out myself he were a star but a really really nice guy and a bloody great guitarist
Great to see this vintage footage of Freddie and the boys at their peak.Sadly Freddie and drummer Bernie Dwyer are no longer with us,but the happy memories live on.
Beneath the sillyness and frivolity was a very very fine singer. RIP Freddie.

Saw these fellas live quite a lot in the 60s. Good band and Freddie was a show in himself although he did overdo it at times.
Always worth watching, though.
